Just purchased the Vizio SV472XVT and e-mailed Vizio for the discretes which they sent. I have enough knowledge to be dangerous with discretes. My question is should I just get a new remote or is there a simple way to learn them using the MX-500. I also have the the AV 8 producer. Here is the email from Vizio support:

We use NEC protocol with address 04FB for all of our TVs (except the really old ones, like P4)

You can use the AV Producer 8 with the below EFCs.  See instruction #14 in the on-line manuals to see how to assign these to buttons. Decide from the photographs if you have a 8800 or 8080.  www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/.

I should have pointed out that you'll need to first assign setup code TV 0178 to the TV device button.

Once you have 0178 assigned, then buttons like Vol+/- and power toggle should work directly. Then you can check your testing procedure by entering EFC 183 for Vol+.

UEI code tv 178 matches URC tv code 113 in the mx-500, a goldstar tv code.
