I have a JVC HR-S4800U VCR. This unit appears to not only not have descrete Power On/Off, but even the pressing play trick does not turn the unit on. Has anyone found a workaround for this unit to help in setting up Macros for my MX-500?
Thanks, Brent

Do you have a ONE-FOR-All remote? Try advanced codes 248-discrete on,and 247-discrete off.

Brent,
I would be very surprised that the JVC was a TOAD. There is a file at the top of the page here for a HR-S-5000U with discrete commands but, as Edmund has suggested, you will need something to program your MX-500 since I believe that it can only learn commands.

Ok, late, but my HR-S 4700 has discreet power on / off, found here in the JVC section as HR-S 5000.
Did you tried that code ? Thought of code a and b ?
