Hi

I recently traded up from an American DVL-700 to a Japanese LD-S9. The discrete power codes that I was using do not work on the new machine so I am back to TOAD status. I was wondering if anyone might know if such codes exist. I could post the toggle code if some IR Guru would like to take a crack at searching for one. Thanks in advance

Tom

Tom,

Please do post the toggle code. It should simplify the process.

Tom,

That is thte classic power toggle for Pioneer LD's. NEC2 protocol 40KHz carrier;Device=168, Function=28

Here would be the discrete power commands:

Device Code: 168 Function: 26-On

0000 0068 0000 0022 00B4 00B4 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0760

Device Code: 168 Function: 27-Off

0000 0068 0000 0022 00B4 00B4 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0760

Let me know it they work. If they don't, send me a ccf file will all the commands from the OEM remote. Pioneer of late, particularly with DVD's send out a sequence of two or three different commands. I may be able to create one using the logic of the DVD but adapt to the LD device code.

Also, and perhaps easier, many DVD's, LD's, and VCR's will turn On with the Play button from Off. So On becomes Play|Stop and Off is Play|Power Toggle. You may have to play with the timings between commands in your Macro.

I had a chance to look at your ccf file for the LD. No magic that I could see looks like the standard command set.

Here is one more try -- these are the more complex Pioneer DVD discrete power codes with the device changed from DVD to LD:

On

0000 0067 0000 0044 00B6 00B6 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0773 00B6 00B6 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0044 0017 0017 0017 0773

I am looking for power codes for a DVL-700, in a format usable by an OFA remote (I have a RS 15-2013), or better yet an IR-Clone file for the MX-500.

Does anyone have this info, or know where I can find it?

Setup code VCR_0059, assign EFC=247 for On and EFC=251 for Off.

I found (via conversion from some Pronto files) that I should be able to use (NEC2):175:186 code 031 OFF, and (NEC2):175:187 code 035 ON. I'm using device code 0525. The OFF works, but not the discrete ON. Wierd.

Any ideas? Do I need a different device code for ON? Maybe my unit is broken? I just had the latest firmware installed in it.

In the 15-2103, DVD_0525 uses a two-byte protocol and it is for a Pioneer two-command sequence.

I think you lucked into the correct setting for Off (see John Fine's explanation here [Link: remotecentral.com] )

The actual signal that your device needs is Pioneer (163:153) followed by Pioneer (175:186) for Off and Pioneer (163:153) followed by Pioneer (175:187) for On.

Pioneer is NEC2 at a 40KHz carrier frequency and decodes as that with the older version of ccf2efc.

If you really want these commands, you will need to do this with a JP1 cable and that will allow you to do two byte key moves. However, the 2103 takes a fair amount of electronics expertise to just install a JP1 connection.

The better solution right now is to buy the RS 15-2104 that is being discontinued for $10 at Radio Shack stores and buy or build the cable.

If you saved your Off command in your MX you could do the following macro for discrete On: Off | Power Toggle. Also it is very likely that your unit will turn On from Off with the Play command. If So Play | Stop is your discrete On.

If you are still doing a lot of searching for discrete commands and want to get the exact commands, I highly recommend getting the 15-2104 and go the JP1 route since it will allow you to create just about any IR command out there and at a very reasonable price. If you are not going the JP1 route then the 2104 offers little more than what you have.

Lots of good info here - thanks!

I am already using Play-Pause-Pause-Stop (Play-Stop is too quick for the player to catch). Although neither that nor Off-Toggle are completely side-effect free, I think I'll just stay with what I have. Going JP1 is more work than I care to do at this time.

I appreciate the explanation and now feel I understand things better.
