I know this request may seem a bit odd, but here goes.
Anyone know of a way to convert a Phillips Tivo remote ( small peanut shaped unit) so that it will send RC5 code for ALL the buttons?

I think you would be better off getting one of the One-For-All remotes. The more recent ones either have a setup code or can be programmed to control the TiVo and a variety of devices using the RC5 protocol.
IIRC, TiVo itself does not respond to RC5 commands, despite being manufactured by Philips
