Hi all,
I'm hoping to find someone who's been over this ground before.
I want to get what is apparently one of the best FM tuners to come along in years - the Sony XDR-F1HD. It is said to do an excellent job with regular FM, but also does HD Radio, and I do have an HD Radio signal I'm interested in.
Now, I want more than to plug this into my stereo. I record from radio every week with the Windows app 'Radiator' and a USB-controllable FM radio. I'd like to extend that to HD Radio by being able to control the Sony from a computer. I'd also like to break out of Windows and run an open source application to send the IR commands. I would need hardware to send IR codes, Solaris or Linux software to talk to the hardware, and a way to find or capture the correct IR codes from the Sony remote. I have a Harmony 680 which I know can learn the codes, if that helps. I've seen some stuff that seems expensive and like overkill for using a remote to control the computer; I mostly want the computer to emit IR, though detecting the codes may be necessary.
Has anyone done research that would apply here?
Thanks, Rob T

we are just waiting for an 'application' that will allow Harmony Remote users to use their Harmonies to take over the World, obviously the remote has the in-built power to perform this task it's just a matter of a simple program. sorry for the sarcasm.
