decided to go with IRPanels as the program seems to be a little more user friendly, however when i copy my HEX file into the large box and click on 'generate ccf', another small window opens saying 'ccf generated' where is it? 'cos when i click 'ok' both the large and small windows disappear leaving me with bugger all! tried opening prontoeditNG at the same time but that doesn't seem to want to know.. help...

Notice in the readme file it says
"a file called "IRCodesCreate.CCF" will be generated."

That is always the name of the output file. So typically you would rename that file after running irpanels both to help remember what's in that ccf and to keep it from being overwritten the next time you run irpanels.

Notice also that the codes that go into IRCodesCreate.CCF come from the makehex output that you paste into the GUI, but the graphics (buttons, panels, etc.) that go into IRCodesCreate.CCF come from IRCodes Master.ccf so that file must be present in the directory where you run irpanels.

the problem is i cannot locate the 'IRCodesCreate.CCF' file. i can find the 'IRCodesMaster.CCF' but this is just a blank pronto file with 256 empty buttons.

Works for me.

How about hex2ccf. I don't have time too look up the better (registry entry) way to run that, but here is the ordinary way:

Start up a cmd prompt window ("dos prompt" in some versions of Windows)
CD to a directory where you have both hex2ccf.exe and the .hex file
type
hex2ccf name.hex name2.ccf
replace name and name2 as appropriate, such as
hex2ccf nec1.hex freesat_test.ccf

whilst playing around with this program i realised it probably is of little use to me personally as i don't have one of the original pronto's with which to fire out the codes. the pronto i have is the TSU3000, and neither program seems to want to work with ProntoEditNG.

Are you talking about IR Panels or Hex2ccf?
I use IR Panels all the time with ProntoEditNG.Just import the ccf file.

Doesn't matter which. They produce very similar CCF files.

I use IR Panels all the time with ProntoEditNG.Just import
the ccf file.

I have read here many times that CCF files (which don't work directly in newer Prontos) can be merged into the files that do work the newer Prontos. So I frequently tell people to do that with hex2ccf or irpanels output. But since I have no Pronto of any kind, I've never tried it myself, so I can't give instructions to tell a beginner what exactly to do with ProntoEditNG to accomplish it. I hope "Just import the ccf file" is clear enough instructions for someone who apparently didn't know before that ProntoEditNG had that capability.

1.In the File menu, select Import CCF.
The 'Import ccf' window appears.

2.In the 'Look in' field, browse to the CCF that you want to open.

3.Select the CCF you want to open.

4.Click the Open button.
The progress window 'Loading' appears. The CCF is automatically converted into a Pronto Configuration File (PCF) and the file name automatically gets the extension .pcf.
