more questions i'm afraid, i thought i'd start a new more relevant thread.
my new makehex created codes don't seem to be long enough.
for example.
pioneer hex:0000 006C 0000 0022 0159 00AD 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 05FD
irtool decodes this as:
protocol NEC2
device 170
OBC 26

when i start up makehex and find NEC2 what of the following do i change?

Device=210.109
Function=0..255

Protocol=NEC2 'Like NEC1, but repeats entire pattern
Frequency=38000
Time Base=564
One=1,-3

Prefix=16,-8
Suffix=1,-78

Just change Device from 210.109 to 170

Some NEC signals have a subdevice (the part after the dot). Others don't.

Once you get the output from MakeHex with 256 functions for device 170, the specific signal you decoded is function 26. But I expect your intent is to try other functions.

What are you looking for? Pioneer tends to have all their codes on their web site, so you may not need MakeHex.

when i start up makehex and find NEC2

I hope you understand that you don't run MakeHex like an ordinary program. Edit nec2.irp with some other program (Windows Notepad or something similar). Save the edited result then drag/drop the icon of the modified nec2.irp onto the icon of makehex.exe
