Can anyone here tell me if the Samsung LCD TVs (LN52A750 or A650) have a Discreet Key code to Toggle the built in Speakers ON and OFF?
I found the a Menu option for this, but I need to turn them on or off in a macro with a single code and not 12 keys presses digging though the menus every time.

I would like to turn OFF the TVs internal speakers when I watch a DVD (my receiver is ON), and turn them on again when I watch TV (receiver is now OFF).

I can do this on every Sony TV I have ever had, but I can't find a code for the Samsung LCD TVs. Is Sony the only TV maker that can do this?

Thank You

Not to sound facetious, but why would you do this? I can only imagine how close your gear has to sit to the TV to share analogs to the set and digitals to the receiver. Would it be easier to just turn down the volume on the TV? That sort of Macro would be really easy to write. I have a KDL-46XBR5. Im not even sure the speakers work, as I have never tried them. The news sounds much better in surround.

I'm not taking about mute. Mute leaves a "MUTE" message on screen that never goes away.

I only like to use 5.1 for movies and concerts. I see no point in using it for most any other TV show, especially when the show is nothing more than talking heads like the news. Yes all my gear sits right under the TV anyway, so it's not a problem to hook anything up.

My receiver is always switching around from 5.1 to 2.0 from commercial to commercial and it gets very annoying. It's bad enough watching the networks screw up broadcasting HD content, I don't need to hear them mess up the sound too.

(I work in TV as a Video Engineer and nothing you see broadcast on TV comes even close to the quality I see on set.)

I currently have a Sony XBR 40" CRT TV and use the Speaker ON/OFF discrete code and it works great. I guess since all my attempts to find this type of code have failed for Samsung TVs.

EDIT: I'm having trouble finding a code that works on the SONY LCD TV's now too... :(

Hi Guys

Has anyone come across the discrete codes to turn the Samsung speakers ON/OFF yet. I have search far and wide and it appears alot off people would like these codes if they are available. I have a situation where I use the samsung TV speakers for general TV and surround sound speakers for av kit so would like to switch the speakers off with discrete codes (if available) when watching my the av kit. I have seen rs232 codes posted but no discrete IR codes.

Muting the speakers is sadly not an option as the mute icon stays on the screen :-(

Any suggestions welcome :-)

Cheers
