I have a Sony RM-VL100- remote and I just got DirectTV with the HD/DVR. I can't find a manufacturer on the DVR to figure out what code to use to program the remote. Also, I don't want to have to learn the whole DVR remote (the process is why to time consuming for anything over 3 or 4 buttons).

My questions are 1) Is there a code to program most of the features of the DirectTV remote onto my Sony? 2)If not, what remote is similar in functions (learning, macros, etc) and price (I paid around $80 4 years ago) to the RM-VL1000 that would control my new DTV DVR?

Also, not sure if it helps but the other compenents; TV, DVD, Reciever/AMP, & CD player; are all Sony.

I am fairly tech savvy but definately not a remote control or HT expert so please take that into consideration with your suggestions. Thanks.
