No luck thus far on cable boxes for the 2000 or 3100. Well, I now have a Motorola DCT5100 for Comcast HDTV in Baltimore County. Someone make me smile and tell me on this latest generation cable box there are discrete on and off codes. Someone. Anyone?

Hey 1080i, is there a way to have the unit switch back and forth between 480i and 1080i using a remote? I'd love to be able to do this.

I too would like discretes for this STB ...

Post the Pronto hex for the power toggle and I can tell you how to generate the complete command set. Then you can try to find the commands you are looking for.

jarmstong, this is the power toggle hex code for the Motorola 5100. Any help on how to find a discrete on/off would be appreciated.

Here is how to generate all 256 commands(0-255)

1. Download John Fine's MakeHex [Link: remotecentral.com]

2. Unzip all the files into one directory.

3. Open that directory in Explorer, Drag and Drop s16b.irp onto MakeHex.exe

4. s16b.hex, a text file, is automatically created in the same directory with all the other files.

5. Open s16b.hex with Notepad and all 256 commands will be there in order .

Here is a summary of the known commands:
Func-
tion

000 0
001 1
002 2
003 3
004 4
005 5
006 6
007 7
008 8
009 9
010 POWER
011 CH +
012 CH -
013 VOL +
014 VOL -
015 MUTE
016 MUSIC
017 SELECT
018 EXIT
019 LAST
020 TV/Cable
021 FAVORITE
025 MENU
029 FFWD*
030 REW*
031 PAUSE*
048 GUIDE
049 REC*
051 INFO
052 Up
053 Down
054 Left
055 Right
056 DAY Up
057 DAY Down
059 PAGE+
060 PAGE-

* I am not sure that these are the exact commands but they do something on some STB's.

Obviously use these commands at your own risk. I don't think anything will happen but in TV's people have encountered service menus and reset factory settings. I suppose you could get into some setup menu. If so, just turn the box off and skip that command.

Let us know if you find anything.
