I've been probing the Forums and other palces for the last 2-3 days and have yet to find a word of encouragement. About to conclude that Samsung DVDs don't have discretre P-On/P-Off codes. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

If it makes any difference, mine happens to be a DVD-1080p8.

This may be the last Samsung product I ever buy.

Samsung are terrible when it comes to discrete IR commands. One of the many reasons I returned the Samasung 1400 Blu-ray player and bought a Panasonic instead.

Never seen discrete power in Samsung.

However, PLAY is as good as discrete on.

PLAY
delay 4 seconds
POWER
...acts as discrete off.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Thanks, Tom. I've tried that, but my Samsung DVD takes 25 second delay! That's not an inconvenience when we want to shut down and go to bed after watching a DVD, but it's a real pain when we want to switch from TiVo to a DVD.

When I go Blu-Ray, or updating my Recv/Amp, I'll not be buying Samsung.

Never seen such a delay in a Samsung DVD. I guess I just haven't lived.

I like their flat panels, but their other electronics aren't go to devices when setting up a system!
