Hello gurus, It was recommended that I try asking here . . .
I found these printed ir codes for a Yamaha RS-KX1 Remote that is supposed to work with my Yamaha KX-W492 cassette deck. I'd really like to put these to use in my MX-850. I've searched and tried the ProntoEdit but no luck.
Can anyone recognize the format? of these codes -and- help me out with instructions on getting them into my MX-850.? ______________________________________________________________________

The original filename was: "yamaha rs-kx1 tape deck.cde"

I did try a Pronto KX-W392 file but it didn't work. (but should - mine is a 492 !) It only toggled the arrow indicating which transport - but would not play, rewind, etc. Same thing with all the decks listed in the URC database.
I noticed that the printed code numbers didn't divide equally into groups of four. I was wondering if that meant anything. Also I didn't know what to do with the beginning sets of numbers.
(I have a lot of Theatre Pipe Organ concerts on cassettes that I'd like to revisit. Thats why the interest in the cassette deck ! !)
Any ideas out there ? Thanks . . . Dave

i am not an expert on this by any means, but i recently ran into a similar problem with codes from a marantz receiver. a few people on the boards directed me to a program called makehex, which takes various protocols that comapnies use and turn the codes into hex to use with pronto, rti, etc. thats not a protocol i know but it might be one makehex supports. try searching the threads about the program and maybe you can find something.

You can convert those to Pronto Hex using MakeHex, but you need to do some external translation.
The Protocol is nec1, so you use the nec1.irp file with MakeHex.
The device number is 127 (which you must edit into nec1.irp).
The harder to translate part is the individual function numbers. There are few enough in that list, that it easier for me to tell you the function numbers than explain the process (but you can find the method to use the EFC calculator of IR.exe to translate LIRC data in other threads with an appropriate search).
PLAY 0 STOP 3 FFWD 2 REWIND 1 SEARCH_FWD 10 SEARCH_REW 11 RECORD/PAUSE 4 DECK_A/B 6 REC_MUTE 5 MONITOR 15 DIR_A 7 DIR_B 8 INTRO_SCAN_> 30 INTRO_SCAN_< 31 DUBBING 9 COUNTER_RESET 13 COUNTER_REMAIN 29 COUNTER_MEMORY 14 COUNTER_TAPE 12
Depending on the software you have, you might be able to use Pronto Hex directly in the MX-850 editor. But it is probably easier to use IrPanels or Hex2CCF to convert the whole output of MakeHex to a CCF file in one step, then use the CCF file in the MX850 Universal browser.
