Hi again, I have learnt these codes from a Humax plasma and got the info from the IR JP1 program. What i got was Protocol-NEC1, Device-0, Sub device-128,Obc-64, I only learnt a couple of codes. Now i set it up this way in Make Hex Device-0.128, Function-0..255 as I want to generate a full code set so I thought you have to leave the Function set at 0..255 and I used NEC1 Protocol. Is this correct please as I am flat out and want to make sure I am doing it correctly and not wasting time.
If I have worked this out correctly I should be right next time I need to find tricky codes. Thanks heaps for any help as I really need to get this right, Cheers Mick

If those results are accurate then you have it correct.

NEC1 protocol is (commonly refered to as) a 32 bit code which will yield 256 codes for any given device number.

Most protocols are similar. There are some 48 bit codes (most notably kaseikyo) that will yield up to 4096 codes for any given device number.

Mail me and I can provide you with a simple excel sheet and process for transferring and documenting the results into a useful format.

Thanks heaps for your quick reply, as I said in another post the codes are for a Humax plasma that I am trying to find discrete input codes for,I cant get any help from the company and I have customers waiting on remotes to be programmed but I need the codes as the remote is set up in a way that you cant program any decent work arounds. T he data I posted was what I got from learning some codes and then using the JP1 program to decipher them.I have created a full set but have only tried the first 20 with no results as yet, the hex code when loaded into MX editor seems a lot shorter than other codes I have learned or generated with Make Hex and IR panels but it loades onto a button as learned so I will keep going through them to see if I can find anything.
Is it common to have a lot of codes that dont do anything. Also I will mail you for that info and again thank you so much for your help.
Cheers Mick

Early in the test process I would test at least one of the known codes. For example, you say you learned OBC 64, so you know what function 64 does. If you test function 64 from the MakeHex output and it doesn't do that then something is wrong with your process of generating, installing or testing the codes. No point testing a lot of unknown codes until you know the process is correct.

Thanks John, to tell the truth I never gave that a second thought. Are some generated Hex strings a lot shorter than others? These hex codes are only half the size of other Hex codes I have learned from different manufacturers, or might they just be a lot cleaner as I have read in other posts on this subject. Thank you, Cheers Mick
