How do I get a code from this spreadsheet,
[Link: us.marantz.com] (can't get the link right, it should include the ..._DVD(2).zip) added to an MX-900? The code is the HDMI code for the VC6001, which turns out to be 004 198 in the DVD1 command column.

After some searching I think I need to convert it to hex with makehex, which I've downloaded. I'm not sure how to do that, though. Can someone give me a hand?

Thanks

Marantz normally uses RC5 and RC5x protocols.

The commands with two number (such as power toggle) are usually RC5: First number is device, second number is function (so power toggle is RC5 device 4, function 12).

But that documentation says otherwise (contradicting what I thought I knew about Marantz). It says to use RC6 instead of RC5 where ever they show a pair of three digit numbers. Same device/function as I described above but using RC6.irp instead of RC5. Probably they are correct.

The commands with three numbers (such as power ON) are RC5x: First two numbers form the device (MakeHex wants a . between them), third number is function (so power ON is device 4.12, function 1). I know they say those are "RC-5" but with three values, they can't be what is normally called RC-5. They must be RC5x.

Gotchya, thank you. I take it it makes no difference whether it's in the command column 'DVD1' or 'DVD2', huh.

I think that makes a big difference. But I don't know which you want. Test and find out.

Sorry, I meant that makehex doesn't care that the code I want is from the DVD1 column. Just that 004 198 means Device = 4 and Function = 198. Thanks again for the help.
