Hi,

I am looking for discrete powere on/off codes for the Hitachi RPTV 57SWX20B and the Hitachi DV-P250U DVD player.

I want to program these in my MX-500 remote. Is there a FAQ on how to take these codes and program them into the MX-500?

Thanks for your help.

Jester

I don't have an MX-500 or know anything about it but from the questions being asked here, I think most people are buying a $25-$30 One-For-All (OFA) remote that can be programmed for discrete commands. I can give you the discrete commands for the TV for most OFA remotes if you go that route.

If the TV is less than 2 years old there is a good chance it will respond to discrete power commands. I think if the TV is older than 2 years it is unlikely to respond to discrete power commands.

I don't have any data one way or the other on the DVD. Frequently DVD's when off will turn on only from the Play command. So On=Play|Stop and Off=Play|Power Toggle.

I went to the hitachi site. The site confirms that the 57SWX20B RPTV does have discrete on/off codes. The supplied remote however does not make these available.

The codes listed on the hitachi site are:

ON 50AF 3EC1
OFF 50AF 3FC0

I have no idea what these numbers mean or how to get them programmed into the supplied or any other remote. Any help in figuring out what these numbers are will be very greatly appreciated.

I also have a remote that came with my Scientific Atlants 3100HD set top box that has a JP1 connector. Maybe I can use the OFA codes with that?

Thanks,

Jester.

I posted all the Hitachi RPTV commands here for the OFA remotes:

I think many of the Scientific Atlanta remotes were OEM'd by UEIC and a number of them do work. In this case you shouldn't need the cable as the setup code is the basic Hitachi TV code.

There is much more information and people who have made the Explorer remotes work at the JP1 Yahoo group.

Here is the link to join:
