I have a code that I need to put in the old PRONTO remote style of HEX... but DirecTV is giving me the codes, in what they claim, is already HEX. I'm lost and need help on how to convert from one format of HEX to the other (and would love to understand which is which).

The code DirecTV gave me is 73H, but I need it in the old "0000 006B 001E 0000 00E8" type format. How do I convert this? Thanks!!!
Shawn

Do you have any learned signals for the same device?

That 73H is only part of the information you need to construct the Pronto Hex. It is probably all of the information that is different between functions of the same device but none of the information that is the same across all functions of the same device.

You can use DecodeIR with either DecodeCCF or IrTool to decode learned signals to find the infomation that is common across all functions of that device. Then you can use MakeHex to construct new signals from which you can select function 73H.

What is the function of the code?

I would guess that it is the Format command (73h=decimal 115)

0000 006C 0001 000A 00E7 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 0017 0481 0073 002E

The function code for format is decimal 115 which is = to 73 hex.

The manufacturers usually provide function data in the form of binary or hex data but they rarely provide much else.

Direct TV uses a Russound IR protocol, Device 12. The function number for format is 115 and I already have a list of cleanly generated codes... in part due to guidance from johnsfine and his makehex application.

Thank again john.

Do I understand correctly, the Pronto Hex string in post 3 works for both of you?

You're not using NG Pronto's are you?

So far as I understand, NG Pronto's don't work correctly with repeating Pronto Hex strings that end in small values, such as 002E. You need to lengthen and rotate the Pronto Hex string, so the same signal is represented by a string that ends with a large value. In this case, that would be:

0000 006C 000A 000A 00E7 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 0017 0481 0073 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 002E 002E 0017 0017 002E 0017 0481

I checked my library of downloaded DirecTV when this thread started. Then I checked my library of signal decodes (for Russound 12:115) when Tgrugett first posted). I didn't find it in either JP1 files or CCF files. So I'm operating with a little less information than usual.

Cleaning up the "Russound" name in DecodeIr and MakeHex has been on my to do list so long I've forgotten exactly what I was supposed to do. "Russound" is not the correct name for this protocol. But the name only matters for tying together results from different programs. So if you used a Russound.irp file to generate those signals, you could continue to use it.

I do not know about Pronto but the codes I have generated work just fine with RTI.
