I agree with the alias concept. When I used to program prontos I would create hidden code pages and then link buttons (or macro steps) from the GUI to the buttons on hidden pages.

If a page or pages were created with larger buttons named for their function and then linked to the proper function numbers from hidden pages containing the .ccf generated by IRpanels, it would make for an easy to use code generator for teaching learning remotes without hex importation abilities. It would also be easy to create.

I have found, however, that a spreadsheet coupled with direct importation software features is the simplest way to go. That said I am not a big URC guy so I have not needed to import .ccf files to get my discrete codes into the software.

OK, after further searching I found another thread that
contained the .irp file I needed. After testing all of
the 256 codes, I have mapped all the keys on the remote
and have found a discrete pwr on code, but no discrete
off. Is it possible that a device would have one without
the other? Is 256 the maximum number of codes, or can
I edit the function line in the .irp file to return more
codes?

For those that are interested, below is the discrete pwr
on hex code. Also, if anyone is interested in the functions
I mapped to the other makehex codes I can post those as
well.

So if this is a discrete power on (145) as you mentioned above, would this command followed by a power toggle command function as a workaround power off? I would assume that it would work, but there is the question of how long it takes for the Sharp to power on fully, so it can receive the power toggle command to turn off. My experience with Samsung disc players is that there is a very lengthy amount of time necessary to fully power on. I hope the Sharps are a little quicker.

All of this IR decoding that johnsfine and tgrugett are so graciously helping out with is so far over my head. I just hope that a discrete power solution is imminent.

I just uploaded a .ccf with all the codes, though I don't know how long it takes before it is available. I agree with johnsfine and tgrugett about linking to a hidden page or two that contains the ir codes and this is what I uploaded since this is what I personally find more useful when looking for configuration files.

So if this is a discrete power on (145) as you mentioned above, would this
command followed by a power toggle command function as a workaround power
off? I would assume that it would work, but there is the question of how long it
takes for the Sharp to power on fully, so it can receive the power toggle command | to turn off.

This won't work because of exactly what you were concerned of. It takes ~ 15sec before you can shut it off after powering the device.

The only macro I have that uses the discrete-offs is the "all off", so my present workaround is to jump to another page with a question (Turn off BD Player?) 2 buttons (yes, no). The yes button just adds the power toggle to the end of the conmmands. It's not that big of a deal since this is the only device for which I've been unable to find a discrete-off code.

Just tried using the "ON" hex code with my Universal MX-3000 remote and it did not work at all. My MX-3000 has a hex editor that allow me to convert the hex code to a learned code for use in my remote. I have used it for other hex codes and it usually works but unfortunately it did not work for the sharp ON hex code as posted above.

Is it possible to get the ".ccf" Pronto file from you. I should be able to use my universal browser in the MX-3000 software to read the ON code in the Pronto file.

My email address is linked to my profile via the "View Profile" link in the message title.

Thanks
Frank

None of the hex codes work for discrete on. I started another thread a while back and here is the link: [Link: remotecentral.com]. None of the hex codes for on work there either.

I think we need to hear from member bbarz again on the subject. He said they worked???

I will look over my stuff to see if there are any issues I overlooked.

170 - A (blue)
171 - B (red)
172 - C (green)
173 - D (yellow)

The letters do not match the colors on the actual remote (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, respectively), but I would assume that since the data is sequential it would be tied to the letters. Can anyone confirm this?
