I want to be able to select the AUX input on my Pioneer VSX-D509S reciever but for some reason there's no button on the remote to do this. Does anyone know if it's feasable and have the code to do so? (Possibly from another Pioneer receiver whose remote does have that function
Cheers

Here it is:

Device Code: 165 Function: 79 Pioneer Receiver-AUX
0000 006D 0000 0022 00AC 00AC 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 070A

Thanks for that Jon unfortunately it does not seem to work with my 509. I'm currently using a macro workaround by selecting tuner then the function button as AUX comes after tuner. It works but it's messy and a discrete would be much nicer.
Thanks anyway

I feel your pain. You solved it the same way I did. I used input for tuner, then toggled up one to AUX.

MINI MACRO MUMBO JUMBO
If you have a Sony remote you could put it on one button by using the mini-macro mentioned in the sony forum and review. I did not do this since I only need that function in the system macro (regular macro). I use a Sony RM-VL900 so I have no shortage of memory to do this kind of bandaid for the system macro with which I turn on the AUX system.

Compared to all the hassles these modern systems are, it was just a drop in the bucket. Not really a hassle at all compared to trying to find the direct discrete for AUX which may not even exist.

Have you ever tried an older pioneer receiver's remote? My old vsx-d1s, it's remote has twelve inputs, with individual buttons. I also have a remote to a vsa-1000, in which it has thirteen inputs. They're labeled VCR1,VCR2,VCR3,VDP,TV,VIDEO1,VIDEO2,TAPE1,TAPE2,LINE,CD,TUNER,PHONO. The code to one of these must have been relabeled AUX. I don't have a pronto, so I can't give you the codes, but there must be some in the files.

Robert,

I think you did something wrong. I have the Pioneer VSX-D509S and I just tried the command that I posted and it works.

That's interesting Jon, I'll try again but I can't see what I could be doing wrong as I've pasted several other codes in the past and got them to work. However, computers and Prontos are strange things so I'll give it another go and see what happens. I'll post back when done.
Cheers

Dear jarmstrong,
I have a Pioneer VSX-D509S and the only device OFA codes that worked reasonably was 0080 (Reciever) and 0013 (amp). I used the 0013 since it gave me more of what I needed than the 0013. Is the 165 code for a different model, or are we talking about different types of codes?
Are the codes you gave above only for Pronto, and do not apply to OFA?

Jon I can't get it to work. I've got a UK model RU940, what model are you using? Could this make a difference? Also, what is the significance of the top line device code? I'm only cutting and pasting the numbers from the second line on into the IR code window. Am I doing something wrong with this particular code?
Thanks Rob

Robert,

This baffles me. I don't even have a Pronto but I know how to decode and generate them. The hex generator that I used has been used many times by many people. The Pioneer Protocol is also very well known.

I decoded the hex that I posted for some sort of error and there isn't any that I can see. I tested the command that I used on my equipment with an IR analyzer and it is virtually identical with respect to timings as the Pronto hex that I posted. The only thing I can see is some variation in lead in and lead out timings but I have never seen that to cause a problem.

So I dug through the archives and found every discrete input command that works on device 165 and generated Pronto hex for them using a different Hex Generator (Barry Gordon's GenIRDB) and they are posted below. I also included the discrete power commands and the Power toggle. Since these are a collection of many models not all commands will work on all models.

If you can test these perhaps the answer will become obvious. I suppose that the UK and the US versions of the Pioneer receiver may be different. It doesn't seem likely -- but I can't believe the command doesn't work either. BTW, you were correct you do not paste in the first line:

Here are all the commands for OFA Audio_0013 that I know of -- I think you will see the correlation to what I previously posted. OBC=true command code, EFC=Advanced Code the function is first and after the dots is the button usually assigned by the built in library in an OFA remote. Keep in mind the numerals are usually discrete inputs:
