I have a sat remote that I need to find out the codes for. I also have a One For All 8811. I've tried to use the learning mode to put the Sat remote commands into the 8811 but it's not accepting them. Is there any device or way I can decode what the sat remote is sending? Thanks for any help.

1) Which brand/model sat device. Maybe we know the right setup code for it.

2) The 8811 is pretty good at learning. What do you mean by "not accepting them"? Maybe your 8811's learning memory is full. What other learned signals do you have in it? Maybe you should temporarily delete a couple other learning signals (signals vary in size) and see if that makes it able to learn one from the sat remote (at least proving that learning memory capacity was your problem).
Maybe some of the other signals you have learned could be redone as keymoves and save learning memory.

3) It is much easier and more flexible to program an 8811 by JP1 cable than by the methods documented in the manual. With a JP1 cable you can:
A) Easily backup everything programmed into the 8811, so you can clear it out (without permanently losing anything) and get a clean test of anything that may be failing due to current contents.
B) Examine all the learned signals you have and reprogram them in ways that don't use the learning memory.
C) Examine bad learns (if that, rather than a capacity issue, is what you meant by "not accepting") and program complete correct signals based on the partial info in the bad learns.

4) The best way I know to do exactly what you asked (decode a remote), is to use the CaptureIR hardware and software discussed in a few threads in the JP1 forum.

But depending on the results, you may find there is nothing you can do with the information without a JP1 cable. If you have a JP1 cable, you probably can decode the signals via JP1 (less convenient than CaptureIR, but avoiding the need for that extra bit of hardware).
