The DIscrete code for the 5900 changer is found by using the RC-KB3 keyboard. See the two black blank keys on either side of the space bar? Push the two inside keys simultaneously for STANDBY. Push the outside ones for POWER ON. I have no idea if this works for the 5700 changer.
I do have the ON/OFF IR codes for the 5900 receiver somewhere. I will look when I have a chance. I currently have a PHAST SAM module controlling the receiver with no problems. Love the preset volume!
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

The discrete on/off codes for the Kenwood VR-5900 receiver are "hidden" in the Power Touch III remote control. Switch the remote to "Home 1" or "Home 2" and press the "House icon" key .... You'll notice "Zone A On" and "Zone A Off" --- those are discrete power buttons for Zone A.
If you're using the multi-source/multi-zone capabilities of the VR-5900, then you'll want to access the discrete on/off for Zone B. Switch the Power Touch III to "Zone B", then return the remote to "Home 1" or "Home 2". (I'm assuming you've set-up the receiver for multi-zone operation at this point). Press the "House icon" key .... You'll notice "Zone B On" and "Zone B Off" --- those are discrete power buttons for Zone B.
Once again, assuming you're using the multi-zone feature; You'll want to run a macro that includes both Zone A and B power codes. For example: if you've programmed a "shut-down" macro for all of you're components and you only used the "Zone A Off" code, you'll notice that the receiver will only "mute" Zone A and leave Zone B active. The receiver needs to receive both Zone A and B discrete off codes in order to turn off.
If you're NOT using the multi-zone feature on the VR-5900, then only use "Zone A On" and "Zone A Off" for your discrete power codes.
Hopefully, this info will help.
