There's no bluetooth going on here... it's strictly IR to USB.

sorry, that is what I meant... is the IR receiver standard? or do they make each one differently.... will I have to buy the remote that comes with it or can I just buy the IR to USB and plug the codes into my pronto and "away we go"? in other words... are there other options to buying the remote? they don't have it anywhere where I live... I am 15000 miles away from the US and need a solution in the next couple days... I am programming someone Pronto who is here on a visit from Nigeria....

all help greatly appreciated.

...just did a PS3 with a Nyko today... generated the codes clean (NEC1 d 0.246) and it seemed to work very well. I will post when I have time.

No, they're not all the same. The remote codes can and are different between models - what they send to the PS3 over USB will be the same, however.

Also, you MUST buy an IR receiver designed for the PS3, not just a IR to USB receiver, since the PS3 will not recognize those. Technically what these are is an "IR to USB game controller" adapter.

interestingly, i was looking at this today, we've done a few PS3s with the Nyko Bluwave IR dongle using MX-900s. Works alright, FF is a bit off but otherwise fine. We found we were using the dongles and getting a stockpile of nyko remotes, decided to try against all odds with a standard PC IR dongle - no such luck.

I'm under the impression that the IR sent is unique to the remote and means nothing to the playstation, it's the reciever that decodes it and then sends the right thing down the USB...the IR is just to get the signal over the air.

Yes, this is correct.

The PS2 codes are Sony device 20 protocol and the Nyko is NEC1 device 0.246 protocol.

Hi Daniel - I have recently had to update my PS3 firmware (first to 2.00 and now to 2.01) and both updates have interfered with the connection between my PS3 USB port and the adaptor that I have plugged in there to accept Pronto signals (I had followed the setup posted elsewhere on this site that suggested the purchase of an adaptor and an old PS2 IR receiver - which had worked perfectly until this firmware update).

I am toying with the idea of buying a Nyko remote (to get the USB receiver) - but am worried that 2.01 might also have rendered them useless too. Have you heard any feedback yourself?

Cheers,
Scott

Sorry to drag up an old post but I am having a lot of trouble getting my Nyko programed into my Pronto. Most learned codes are working but a lot of skipping with the arrows. Is it possible you can post these codes or direct me to aplace that has them.
