hello
i have the pronto RU990 and bought me the logic3 PS3 remote control there are several buttons and i already learned them into the pronto. they work fine. but not the cursor buttons
for example 0000 0067 0000 0015 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0206 and 0000 0067 0000 0015 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0206 are working fine
decode IR tell me that are sony20 Device 26.73 and funktion 50 for example. but the cursor keys are my located at funktion 120 121 123 124 and 125 but these key i don't get to work ??? i also discover learning these code will cause the pronto very often crash during learning and cause me the reboot the pronto (communication problem 031) ???
could any one help to get that dump cursor keys also to work
i tried to learn them into my Harmony but also the ps3 IR dongle is not catching this signal the other works fine. ???

I think the problem you are having is explained (as a side issue) in this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]Notice in post 8 of that thread, I said "Your learned signal sends Sony20:26.73:121 three times then starts repeating Sony20:26.218:84 about twenty times per second." The correct cursor signals in that thread turned out to be Sony20:26.218 functions 84 to 87. I don't think anyone explained why the cursor keys on the original remote send those Sony20:26.73 signals before sending the correct signals. A learning remote is easily confused by such compound signals from the original remote. I think that is causing your problems Try using the Sony20:26.218 signals from that other thread (or from MakeHex). As for the main topic of that other thread (the PS3 in XMB mode sees each cursor key three times when it was just pressed once), I have no clue. I've never used a PS. have no clue what "XMB" means. I think we verified in that other thread that the timing of the IR signal is not a factor in that malfunction.

I have also been battling with this remote. Ideally I would like clean hex codes generated with MakeHex instead of the mess that seems to be generated by the Logic3 remote.
Can someone please give me details of the .irp file(s) for both the arrow keys and the others buttons?
Better still if anyone has all the hex codes or a complete CCF for this remote, any chance you would be kind enough to share :)
Thanks,
Rob.

Here is a web page listing the PS2 IR codes: [Link: hifi-remote.com]I don't know how different the PS3 codes may be. But the PS3 signals discussed in this thread match the PS2 signals on that page. If anyone has info on IR signal differences between PS2 and PS3, please give them to the maintainer of that page so they will be available in that form for others. To use MakeHex, use Sony20.irp and set Device=26.218 to generate the signals documented on that page, then set Device=26.73 to generate the DVD signals that were referred to on that page and documented on: [Link: hifi-remote.com]IIUC, the arrow keys on the PS2 and PS3 remotes send both the PS2 arrow functions and the DVD arrow functions, but the PS2 and PS3 only listen to the PS2 arrow functions, not the DVD arrow functions. Has someone checked that carefully? Does that apply in all modes in which aroow keys are meaningful? Or are there sistuations in which the PS2 or PS3 needs the DVD arrow signals? IIUC, many other PS2/3 functions are ordinary DVD functions and the PS2/3 remote sends only the DVD signal (26.73) for those functions.

John,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll have a play this evening (at work at the moment) once I've fitted a new motor in the vacuum cleaner :-/
I'll check both sets of arrow key commands in all modes of operation and report back.
I'm not quite sure how/why the Logic3 remote uses the same commands as the PS2, I can only assume its so people can use a PS2 remote with the PS3 rather than the awful remote that Logic3 supply with their PS3 IR remote.
AFAIK there is not a standard for PS3 IR remotes as all the "IR dongles" are doing is sending "commands" to the USB port in the same way that a wired PS3 "game" controller does. Each manufacturer of PS3 IR remotes seems to do their own thing...
Cheers,
Rob.

John,
100% success with this. Keys respond and repeat exactly as I'd expect. Can't thank you enough.
I've done a number of tests playing files in XMB, played Blu-rays etc and the arrow commands from the "Sony DVD" command set seem to have no function what-so-ever.
I compared the codes generated with MakeHex to some of the commands which I successfully learnt with the Pronto and found the frequency to be slightly off. I guess I should have changed this in the .irp before generating the hex codes. Anyway, some manual editing with IR Tool did the trick.
As previously determined, the arrow/cursor keys are 84-87 from the PS2 command set. Other keys from the DVD command set are as follows:
11 - Enter (circle) 26 - Menu (square) 40 - Display (select) 48 - Previous chapter/track (L1) 49 - Next chapter/track (R1) 50 - Play/pause (start) 51 - Rewind (L2) 52 - Forward (R2) 56 - Stop (X) 84 - Info / Options (triangle)
Note that the labelling on the Logic3 remote is messed up (IMHO). "56" is marked up as "Enter" and "11" is marked up as "Back". The remote really is that bad. Anyway the terms I've used above make better sense and also tie in with the wording on the PS3 six-axis (game) controller and bluetooth remote.
Obviously (if you have a PS3) with "menu" being "square" this will toggle the visualisation when playing MP3's. Likewise "options" will enable you to copy/delete etc in the XMB, "play/pause" will be used to start video downloads on PSN and you can use chapter previous/next to speed up navigation around the PSN.
So, I make the HEX codes as follows:
84 - Up arrow:
0000 0065 0000 0015 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 01de
86 - Down arrow:

Unless I've messed up copying and pasting the above works perfect :)
I have this as a CCF, but don't this I can attach to posts on this forum?
Thanks again,
Rob.

Am I the only one where Rob's controls are totally off? IE you have X as stop but X should be select/play.
From the PS3 online manual:
Video Function System Button Operation Play X or START Button Pause X or START Button while movie is playing Rewind L2 or Left on D-Pad Fast Forward R2 or Right on D-Pad Chapter Skip Forward L1 Button Chapter Skip Reverse R1 Button Movie Main Menu Square Button Display Control Panel Triangle Button On-screen Playback Information Select Button Quit to XMB Home Screen Circle or PLAYSTATION® Logo Button
I greatly appreciate your clean hex codes but man did your labels throw me off.

I think this might be a better label set:
84 - Up arrow:

Ok, I'm at the end of my rope trying to get this to work. I've tried every code posted, tried making my own with makehex and I'm still getting the skipping on the XMB with the arrow keys. Is there no hope? Do I need to try a different remote? I'm using the original ps2 remote with the dongle and loading this into a Pronto TSU3000. Any additional insight?
