My gut feeling is I'm asking for the impossible, but I thought I'd try anyway. Do discrete on/off codes exist for any Magnavox TV's?? I have a 27" (model HD2763) at home that is in need of some discretes. I've tried the codes in the built-in database, but they only toggle.

What kind of remote are you using with the "built-in database" and what setup code works with the the TV.

What kind of remote are you trying to program with discrete commands if they exist? Please include model number and manufacturer of the remote. In what country do you reside?

Are you sure that this is the exact model number I couldn't find it quickly with a Google search. Does the HD mean high definition.

The good news is that most recent Magnavox TV's use the Philips RC5 protocol and often there is a discrete power on or off or both. The answers to my questions may help me narrow down the exact IR protocol and device.

I guess I did leave a bit of info:

My remote is a standard Philips TSU2000 Pronto. Of the codes built into the remote, I believe Magnavox-1 and Magnavox-13 both work, but the power on and off buttons only toggle. I apologize, but I'm still a newbie when it comes to this remote (got it 4 days ago).

I am in the U.S.

I'm pretty sure the TV model number is correct, as it is printed on the label on the back of the TV. I can tell you it's at least 7 years old, so I don't know how easy it is to find info on it. No, it's not even close to high definition, that's just the model number.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

I have a 19" Magnavox that I bought in 1995 that has discrete on/offs. I don't recall which manufacturers' code I used (0054, 0030, 0179, 0020, 0096, 0187, or 1254), but the discrete on EFC is 018 and the discrete off is 082. I'm using a Radio Shack 15-2104 to program a Sony AV3000.

Hope this helps.

Zzed,

These are the Pronto hex for what I think is the most common, These are to the Pronto what Win just suggested for the OFA remotes (including the RS 15-2104) TV_0054 EFC's 18 and 82. These are short because the Pronto hasd built in support for these Philips RC5 protocols

Off
5000 0073 0000 0001 0000 003D

On
5000 0073 0000 0001 0000 003F

Let me know if these work for you.

Thanks for posting the codes. I've got a remote that understands CCF codes, but doesn't understand the short MC5 code here. How would we convert this to a full length IR code?

In classic Pronto hex:

Device Code: 0 Function: 61-Off
0000 0073 0000 000C 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0CA4

Device Code: 0 Function: 63-On

Hey,

Win's EFCs (018 ON, 082 OFF on device code 0054) worked on my Philips Magnavox "Smart Series" TV of similar size and vintage (if this baby has a model number, I can't find it!). Does anyone know if there are also discrete codes to select between INPUTs?

This TV has one coax and one RCA input, side-by-side on the back. The only way I know to select between them involves 16 keypresses through the set's MENU, which is a real bummer, since my new Radio Shack 15-2117 remote can only record 15-step macros!

Also, are there any RS/OFA users out there with a JBL 'Simply Cinema' ESC 230 Dolby 5.1 setup? I can't seem to find anything it will respond to short of learned codes from the original remote. Maybe I'm overlooking something, like the same system sold under another brand?

Thanks in advance for your help,

-- Mitch

On Philips/Magnavox discrete input commands are the discrete on commands for Philips/Magnavox VCR's, DSS, and DVD.

So you will need to key move the following to some key on your TV:

VCR/0081 EFC 018
DVD/0539 EFC 187
SAT/1076 EFC 187

TV/0054 EFC 018 will take you to the TV Tuner, usually Ch+/- will also take you to the tuner.

Some may not work, but you can use a macro for Ch+|video toggle for video 1, Ch+|video toggle|video toggle for video 2 etc.

In case uou need it, here are the instructions for the 15-2116 for a key move from Rob Crowe:

1) Hold SETUP (green P), till screen reads "CODE SET"
2) Scroll down to "KEYMOVER",
3) Press SELECT, screen reads "FROM MODE"
4) Press the device button the code is coming from, screen
reads "FROM KEY"
5) Press SETUP, screen reads "SYNT"
6) Type the 3 digit advanced code
7) Press SELECT, screen reads "TO MODE"
8) Press the device button the code is going to, screen reads "TO KEY"
9) Press the button you are trying to program, screen reads "SUCCESS"

Device Code: 0 Function: 63-On
0000 0073 0000 000D 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020
0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020
0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0CA4

This is AWESOME! This also works with a Magnavox TS2753! You don't by any chance have the TV/INPUT toggle (or VIDEO / ANTENNA) codes do ya? My remote is busted - and the universal remote that I have (RCA) supports everything else EXCEPT this one key (so I have to go through the setup menu to change / toggle between TV channels and the Video Inputs on the back). Thanks,
Shawn
