I would really appreciate the ON and OFF codes for the Pioneer PDP-433CMX plasma. I presume the same codes will work on the PDP-503CMX.

These models are the commercial models of the 4330HD and 5030HD.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Terry,

It looks like the unit is fairly well documented here: [Link: pioneerelectronics.com] It does have extensive RS-232 control. Why not contact Pioneer for the IR codes, if they are not in these documents.

Manufacturers normally provide them for all the high end equipment. If you have trouble interpreting what they send you then post them or email me, tell me what kind of remote that you are trying to progam and I can probably get you pointed in the right direction.

Thanks Jon for the information and quick response. I am however unable to open the PDF links on the page you provided. May be an internal issue, don't know. I was able to open the video card pdf but that was it. I will contact Pioneer for the info though, thanks again.

Terry,
Pioneer told me that all the commercial model plasma displays use the same I/R codes. There are discrete codes for the Pioneer on this site (Pioneer RP Televisions). I used them on a PDP-502MX and the consumer model plasma of the same vintage. The new consumer model PDP-5030HD has a separate media input box and its reported that it doesn’t use the same codes. Please let me know if the Pioneer RP Televisions power on and off codes work on the PDP-503CMX or PDP-433CMX.

Steve, I just today had the opportunity to test the codes on the plasma. They worked great. The discrete power codes and input codes worked perfectly. I used the Pioneer RPTV codes you suggested and confirmed the power codes you responded with. Thanks a million.

I'm confused. I thought that a particular code for a function was always a single, 3-digit number. Am I supposed to program Steve's entire table somehow?

Bizily, the codes listed are hex codes for the Pronto family of remotes. Jon could probably help you with the 3 digit codes for OFA remotes.

Bizily,

For a "One For All" remote it is setup code TV_0166 and EFC=247=On and EFC=251=Off. Some models only use a 3 digit setup code so ignore the leading 0 if that is the case.

Thanks, guys, but you're giving me far too much credit. I'm a stupid newbie with an MX-500 on order. I downloaded the manual and was reading about the two ways to program the buttons: 1) using pre-programmed, 3-digit codes, or 2) learning from another remote.

So when Steve provided this table of codes for the Pioneer plasma, I didn't get it. I was expecting one, 3-digit code, not an entire table.

Am I confusing the 3-digit table lookup code with the actually data stream that gets transmitted when the button is pressed? If so, then how do I program the data stream?

I think most people are buying a One-For-all remote to program the MX series with discrete codes. Maybe there is a library somewhere for the MX-xxx but this is probably the easiest way.

BTW, the Radio Shack 15-2104 is on sale for $20 and is probably the easiest way to get tremendous functionality. It has the JP1 header already installed (6 pin plug in the battery compartment). With a JP1 to PC interface and programming with the tools created by Rob Crowe, and the many others at the JP1 group; other than the display, there is probably little in terms of creating an IR signal (for just about anything ) that a Pronto can do that these little remotes can't do.

More information at www.hifi-remote.com. It has links to the JP group.
