The compulsory off immediately closes the lens cover and shuts off the projector. The fan runs until it cools down. The off is like the toggle on/off and asks you to confirm off.

Has anyone discovered a reliable ON command? I'm using "900A 006D 0000 0001 3300 00FF" in my Pronto 7500, but it works at best 25% of the time.

The Z5 is using a super standby mode as default ( in Europe). Try to change it to normal stand by mode. Enter service mode and change group 100, no. 4 to 0 from +1. Then the power on will function much better.

Wow. I changed the standby mode to normal and now the power on is working. I wonder why the standby mode would affect the I/R. I assume this is some power saving feature.
I will need another week or so to be sure this made a difference. Thanks Dr. Ampere!

I've been operating with the standby mode set to Normal for a week now and the power-on command has worked very time. A huge improvement.
BTW, to set the projector to "normal" mode, change group 100 no. 4 to a "0", not "1" as mentioned in Dr. Ampere's post.

Hi Guys.
I've just upgraded my Sanyo Z2 to a Z5, and I had discrete power codes for the Z2. The 'off' code still works with the Z5 but the 'on' code doesn't.
The 'on' code in the ccf file posted earlier also does not work for me, even after switching off the super standby mode.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
The input codes in that ccf all work a treat, so it's just the 'on' code that I need to get things spot on.
Thanks in advance for any help.

To turn the projector ON, I use the non-discrete power command which I learned from my Z5's IR remote. If it helps, I have a Pronto 7500. Here is the IR code I copied from my PCF file in ProntoProEdit NG:
900A 006D 0000 0001 3300 00FF
To turn the projector OFF, I use the discrete power off command I found in a previous post. It was generated from the MakeHex utility. It is the NEC 50.1 IR code #161 Here it is:
900A 006D 0000 0001 3300 A15E
I recommend you set Z5 standby mode to "Normal" (see my previous post). You must go into the Z5 service menus to do this. If the standby mode is not set to Normal, the IR power on command will be flaky.

I have posted the Z5 service manual on my server. No guarantees how long it will remain. [Link: members.dslextreme.com]Page 55 of the manual shows how to enter the service mode using the remote control. Page 62 shows the Super Standby Mode parameter you must change. It is Group 100, Item 4. The default is "1 = Super Standby". You must change it to a "0 = Normal". (the manual is wrong, it says the default is "0"). Be careful when in the service menus. Don't experiment with changing other items. A wrong setting could permanently mess up your projector.
