Okay, let me preface this by saying that I am uselessly noobtastic to the world of remotes and discrete codes. That said:
I just replaced the TV in my family room with a Panasonic 50" Plasma (sooooooo hot) and the DVD player with a Philips DivX capable model. Now I need to reprogram my MX-500 Universal Remote, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the guy who originally programmed it managed to get discrete power on and off codes to work. From what I understand, this remote doesn't do discrete codes unless they are "learned" from the original remote. The original remotes don't have power on and power off as separate buttons, so how did the pro do it? Is there a way to use my laptops IRDA to mimic the code and learn from that? Where do I even find these discrete codes?!
I'm hopeless. Thanks in advance for the help.

Plastech,
Go to the files section, open up the one of the remote sections, and scroll down. You'll see Discrete Infrared Hex Files. Open it up, and you'll find discrete files for hundreds of devices.
If the MX500 is PC-Programmable, you may be able to find discrete codes in the built-in database in the software. Go to UniversalRemote.com to track down the software, as well as legacy device manuals (your MX500 is most likely a legacy device now).
