trying to use it with my dishnetwork vip 622 hd-dvr remote but the codes they give don't work
can anyone tell me how/where i may get the code?

Your Dish network remote should allow you to scan for the correct ir code set. It may take some time, but if the codes they list in the manual do not work, this will be your best bet.
