I am looking for the discreet On and Off for this device.

I know there is a complete config for the DV-5900 (It was mentioned in this forum before), but it doesn't work on the DV-5700 (I tried).

Has anybody had any success finding these codes for the DV-5700?

Did the commands from the DV-5900 not work at all or just that the discrete commands did not work?

What kind of remote are you using, a Pronto?

To be honest I haven't tried to use the 5900 codes other than the discrete ones. I figured I could easily have my Pronto TSU2000 learn the codes from my original remote. I was really after the discrete codes only since I hate the "power toggle" problem when automating lots of stuff.

Why don't you email me your ccf file. I am trying to narrow down whether it is a different IR device and /or protocol. If so, I may be able to help. If it is the same as the 5900 then your unit may not respond to discrete power commands.

If you haven't seen this standard work-around before, many DVD's will turn on from Off with the Play command. If so, Play/Stop=Power On; Play/Power Toggle=Off.

HTH,

Jon

Thanks Jon,

I really don't have a very complete command list for the Kenwood 5700 yet. I just started looking around for the discrete on/off codes before I put a bunch of work into learning all the codes/features. All I have programmed is the On/Off button :-)

I should have it done hopefully before this weekend, if not, by Monday. I can send it today if you want just the learned on/off code.

Let me know...

Thanks again!

One command is all I need if it works with the 5700. I am trying to decode the device and command number to see if it is different from the 5900. If it is the same then you can save yourself the learning processs by using the 5900.

Did you try the work-around?

I did try the workaround and it worked like a champ, I just had to set quite a delay between the play and the stop command for powering it up. I did play around with the 5900 config and quite a few of the commands did work fine. I will email you my config though.

Looks like both of the discrete codes that you sent me were for Off. Either it was an editing error or maybe they were wrong in the first place. You might try an experiment. Turn the unit on with the toggle and try the On or Off command they should turn the unit off.

I just generated the correst codes with John Fine's MakeHex. There are two minor variants of the NEC code One that has the main code once and a null repeat pattern the other repeats the entire sequence. It looks like everything that you learned was NEC2 the repeating pattern. The 5900's that I looked at were the other variant NEC1 so I have attached both. I am not sure that that it will make much difference but it can't hurt to try.

NEC1

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately none of the solutions seemed to work. I tried doing the test first and it didn't turn the DVD Player off with either button. Next I tried both the on and off for the NEC1 device, and no go. Last I tried both codes for the NEC2 device and they didn't work either. Dang! Thanks for trying though and let me know if you have any more suggestions.
