Hi,
I just bought one of the last multi-region DVD players, Scott 838i - anyone know what IR compatibility it has so I can get a discrete On / Off?

The code for toggel on / off is 0000 006d 0002 0000 0156 0056 0016 0056, if that helps...

Thanks

Ian

When I first saw this Pronto hex sequence I thought it was a fragment because it is 2-bits but there is a ccf file [Link: remotecentral.com] that has the identical command for "Standby"

Interestingly, every other commmand in that file is NEC2 Device 8 (that is 32 bits). So I can't see any logical way to derive the Discrete ON/Off commands other that to try all 256 NEC2 Device 8 and even then it looks like they treat the Power Toggle command very differently.

In the interim, many DVD's respond when Off to the Play command. So Play/Stop=ON, Play/Power Toggle=OFF.

If you really want to try all the device 8 commands, I can explain how to do that.

HTH,

Jon

Thanks for the advice Jon, but the "play" = ON does not work with this machine (but it is a REAL multi-system). How can I get hold of the NEC2 Device 8 codes?
Thanks

Ian

Ian,

Download John Fine's MakeHex [Link: remotecentral.com]

Open NEC2.irp and change to device=8 and function=0..255 (may be that already) with a text editor. Save the file and drag and drop it on makehex.exe and there will be a text file created nec2.txt with your commands.

If you find new codes or discretes let us know,

Jon
