I've done some searching on this board but the last time Denon changers appeared I don't believe the support documents were on the site just yet. The 390 has a hard switch for power and no power button on the remote, but according to the IR hex code document ([Link: usa.denon.com]) and serial protocol ([Link: usa.denon.com] - the embedded link seems to stop short--the "(1.30).pdf" is part of the serial protocol document's URL), there should be a remote-capable discrete code for power. Unfortunately, I can't quite decipher the IR hex codes and am not sure how to translate the serial protocol into usable IR codes. I have an MX-850 and a OFA remote that allows for input of discrete commands, and I understand that the Complete Control suite of software from URC will let me import data from a CCF file; I just don't know how/where to begin. Can anyone assist or point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

power and no power button on the remote,

That makes it unlikely the IR commands for power would work.

but according
to the IR hex code document

I'm pretty sure I understand that document and it does indicate Power On/Off discrete codes. Maybe they work. See instructions below.

and serial protocol

I didn't look because ...

not sure
how to translate the serial protocol into usable IR codes.

It is so rare that you can translate serial protocols into IR that I wouldn't bother trying. Usually the device understands its serial commands only through its serial interface.

Building or buying a device to receive IR and send serial is certainly possible, but I don't think that is what you have in mind.

I have an MX-850 and a OFA remote that allows for input
of discrete commands,

It might help if you told us which OFA you have.

If I'm reading the doc right on that Denon RC-1033 remote, the only compatible setup code in typical OFA remotes is DVD/0634 and that is only distantly compatible. It can generate all the right signals but none of them are natively bound to the keys, so you would need a KeyMove for every one.

Of course I don't know whether your OFA even has DVD/0634. I don't know whether you found some partially working setup code (meaning I'm misunderstanding the Denon doc, or the Denon doc is wrong, or your OFA has a setup code not on my list, or you got an upgrade from OFA customer support or jp1).

Anyway, assuming you have DVD/0634 and you don't have a better setup code, some of your EFC numbers are:

098 = Open/Close
227 = Play
060 = Power On
191 = Power Off

If you don't know what to do with EFC numbers search or ask in the right forum:

The MX-850 approach is to use MakeHex (and maybe Irpanels) to generate the signals using the Denon.irp file with device=8.

But your above statement implies you don't know that process and probably need to search/ask in

Except for Power Off the function numbers are each 64 greater than the number listed in the left column of that doc file. So digit 0 is function 65, Open/close is function 80, Power On is function 115.

The 64 they have for Power Off is obviously a typo. Based on the other info there, I'm pretty sure they meant 61, so it is function 125.

Another MX-850 method is to get this CCF file:
f:\IR\DECODEIR\ccf SAMPLES\ALL REMOTES.txt

The DCM5000 device in that CCF matches just about everything in the doc file you linked.

The Discrete On for DCM5000 in that CCF is the function number 115 as shown in that doc.

Surprisingly the Discrete Off for DCM5000 in that CCF is function 248, not the function 125 I deduced from the doc file. Maybe that doc file is totally wrong about discrete Off or maybe the CCF file is wrong or maybe the DCM5000 is different.

I'll do what I can to wade through this information...thanks for postings and pointers my friend! Looks like I have some education/research ahead of me before I know for sure which method will work.
