Still a little confused.

Now I am trying to generate hexcodes for JVC 70" HDILA HDMI inputs.

JVC told me the discrete codes are 0x0315 and 0x0317 via email.

I downloaded the JVC IR instruction manual,

[Link: jvcdig.com]

That says the codes are 8 bits, 940mn, and 37.9 kHz. Maker code and equipment code info in there too.

I'm a little confused where to take this next. This doesn't look like anything I would put into MakeHex.

Thanks in advance.

That document is a very detailed description of the protocol that I reverse engineered long ago and named "JVC", before seeing any documents on what they call it or on its exact specs.

As specified in that pdf, it doesn't differ in any significant way from what I originally reverse engineered (into JVC.irp), and even less from what I edited into JVC.irp in 2004 when someone posted a different JVC spec for this.

Anyway, 0x0315 apparently means that the "Custom Code" (what MakeHex calls device) is 03 hex and the "Function code" is 15 hex.

15 hex is 21 decimal, so run MakeHex using jvc.irp with device=3 then select function 21 from the .hex file. (17 hex is 23 decimal).

But those discrete code values seem a little improbable. JVC device 3 function 23 is in a bunch of CCF files as the power toggle command and never as anything else. JVC device 3, function 21 is in only one CCF I can find and it is the "rgb" command.

I just checked another file someone posted a year ago, named "JVC IR CODE for US.pdf".

That one says hex 15 is "DIGITAL-IN" and Hex 17 is "POWER ON/OFF".

It doesn't say anything about HDILA nor HDMI. It lists discrete video in commands as hex 11, 12, 14 and 1B. Those are decimal 17, 18, 20 and 27.
