Thinking of trading in my old pioneer cd player, and looked at the Denon DCM 390 or 290.

Looking at the remote on their site (and the pdf instruction manual) it seems that the remote does not have an on/off switch. My old pioneer cd changer did not either. Why is this, that many cd players don't come with remote power on/off ability?

Are there discrete or toggle on/off codes available for my MX-500 (programmable via irclone or radioshack/one for all)?

If not, can anyone recommend a good cd changer that has:
1) quiet/fast cd changes between tracks
2) optical digital output
3) ir remote codes for on/off, preferably discrete available for mx-500
and I guess most of all
4) good sound quality and overall quality?

Thanks.

I use Integra CDC3.4 because it does the discrete on and off. I can't for the life of me figure why a current model Denon or Sony or whatever still doesn't have the discrete power commands.

I don't like the old latching power switch, because it then has to plug into the receiver's switched outlet and I have to explain to the customer why it turns on and off even when he is not using it.

Integra is a champ.

Why not use a DVD player as a CD player Sony's work well aren't exspensive have optical and or coaxial digital outputs and the discrete codes in this website work? Also if your player turns on when you press play ,then a macro On=power, pause, play, pause, stop off =play, power.

DVD players are slower accessing discs than dedicated CD players. He wants quick disc and track changes.

The workarounds are fine for DVDs but not for the previously mentioned Denon, which does not have power via remote.

Skip the CD changer and jump to music servers! Just kidding... well not really.

Latching power switch... just hit stop more than once.

That is actually being considered. The other device I am considering is an Olive Musica. (if you have another suggestion, let me know). (do not want to spend more than about $1500) and do not want to waste a lot of time ripping cd's, that is why the musica is so appealing, since they will load 100 cds for free if you buy the musica (and 75 cents per cd after the first 100).

I understand about the lockig power switch. Just trying to help. The Musica looks like a very affordable server.I doubt you can beat that.
