I have a bit of a problem that might be able to be solved with a bit of ingenuity and some of your help. Basically, I have an old Sharp CRT TV that functions perfectly except its stuck on SAP. This means major audio trouble on several channels. There is no MTS option in the menu (I've searched long and hard), so there must have been an MTS button on the original remote. That remote is long gone.

I figure if I can track down the code for the MTS button that existed on the remote, I can use my PSP and some Universal Remote homebrew to finally take the TV off SAP. However, I don't even know where to begin my search.

As a plan B, would there be any way to brute force the code?

Thanks.

Model number is 25HS100

The only information I have about the remote is that it may or may not have been the one pictured here:

EDIT - the model # of that remote is G1324SA, but again I'm not even sure if that was the original remote for this TV.

Do you have any working IR signals for that TV in your PSP or other universal remote?

I understand you don't have the signal that turns off SAP. But if you have any signal that you could post in Pronto Hex or other form we could interpret, that information would do much more than model numbers to tell us which IR code set the TV needs.

I also found the IR codes for the Sharp 27HS60 at
[Link: ir.premisesystems.com]

Those are probably the same signals your TV uses.

Many signals, including MTS, in that code set match signals in a number of CCF files at RemoteCentral, including:

The remote model number you mentioned has IR data here:
[Link: lirc.sourceforge.net]
As far as it goes, that data matches the info on the 27HS60 and the CCF file. But this LIRC data does not include the MTS button.

I have the same problem. and it is driving me nuts!
I have a Sharp Model 27H-S60 manufactured in 1996
what do all those IR codes mean?
do I have to plug those # into a remote? Do I HAVE to have a remote, cause the original is long gone too.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am technologically challenged.

Probably all you need is a One-For-all remote, like urc-6820, 8820. The Setup code for Sharp tv's is 0093,. the advanced code for the SAP/MTS is 00210, in the 6820 or 8820. Other advanced codes are here, you'll need to add two zeroes to the front of each code in that link.

I finally got my hands on my PSP and was able to try some of the things here. Got it working!

The MTS code from here was what did the trick:

Thanks for the link johnsfine.

I have an old one-for-all remote. urc-2099b00
I used the 093 code and that worked to turn it off and on etc (Yay!)
but how do I enter those advanced codes? this one-for-all remote takes 3 digit codes. I tried putting in the 210 code, but it didnt work. Should I just go get the remote you suggested the urc-6820?
Thanks for the help...i feel a like I'm a pocito closer to listening to my tv in English :)

To map advanced code 210 to a key:

1. tv
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 2-1-0
6, pick a key

i need help with my sharp tv as well... i have a universal remote with the tv stuck on SAP, and i don't know the model number because the sticker is ripped. Is there any other way to get the model or serial number off the tv?

Since this seems to be a common problem with the same solution, there should be no need to find the model number of the TV.

What you need is a universal remote that can generate the signal discussed earlier in this thread.

So first, what universal remote do you have? Maybe you already have one that will do the job.

a 3 button one from comcast. or a 3 function one from RCA. both are set up to work and do work with the tv right now. I just can't hear any programs that are broadcasted in SAP. and i can get to the menu, but theres no options for SAP, just the equisound.
