Is there aany way to Strip out the carrier frequency of an IR HEX code in PPENG? I am trying to use Sony's control S in so I do not need an emitter on the front (little fingers like to pull these off). I know Xantech makes a piece to do this but would probably cost more than the VCR. I wasn't sure if the codes could be manupulated to work with Control S, or if in PPENG there is a way to strip out the carrier or not.

There is a setting for RC5/6/MM in PPENG that I have never used that perhaps does it?

Thanks for the help.

What do you mean by "strip out"?

Your answer is probably in Barry Gordon's document on Pronto Hex:

But if you explain better what you want, I may be able to tell you the answer.

I don't believe with Pronto software. I know with RTI and Crestron you can remove the carrier frequency if that is what you are looking to do.

Well, I would like to have the Pronto transmit codes that Sony's Control S will respond to. This will allow me to use the control S in on the Sony devices we use and hopefully eliminate the need for emitters stuck on the equipment and strenghten the reliability of the install.

I have been told RTI remotes are able to do this by stripping out the carrier frequency of the code. I was hoping someone has experimented with this with PPENG. We primarily use the TSU-7500 and TSU-3500 for our non Crestron installs.

I wonder if the Pronto be able to transmit the code when the carrier is stripped?

Grego, I sent you a file called Vert, it will take a Crestron IR code or database and convert it to Hex, the hex you can use on a Pronto to try

you will need to open a Sony IR file and strip the carrier and save as a new file in a new folder, then open the vert file and convert that ir file to a Prnto hex, this will make a HTML file of all the codes, then you can copy and paste the Hex into pronto and test

My best guess, as we mainly use RTI and Crestron so never really had to Convert the hex manually as our control software did it
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Maybe it means transmitting the signal without IR modulation.

For Pronto Hex in which the first value is 0000 you can eliminate the IR modulation by changing the first value to 0100.

If the first value wasn't 0000 (it was 900A or 5000 or 6000, etc.) you need to use something like the MakeHex program to create the 0000 version.

Sorry for the thread resurection but...

Grego, any progress? I've had to create a few files in the past by opening PENG and DEAL at the same time with a Pronto and a CNXLIR hooked up and learning from an emitter hooked up to the ir out. Not sure if the Pronto will learn a code without the carrier though. I would like to know how it all worked out for you.

Glack, would you be willing to send me a copy also, or perhaps upload it to the IP downloads section?

Thanks,
Rich
