Looking for discrete power on/off and input commands for a Hitachi CP-X1250.

(I originally ignored you here, because the only "CPX1250" info I had was buried in a non searchable file and I didn't know I had it, that I later found easily when I looked for 87h 45h). In the doc at [Link: remotecentral.com] it says: The remote for the CPX-1200, CPX-1250 and the CPSX-1350 can use 3 different ID codes (ID1, ID2 and ID3). The code above is altered for the models so the code 874517E8 becomes 87451701 if ID1 is used. If ID2 or ID3 used then the last Byte is changed to 02 or 03. I'm not certain what that means. I HOPE it means you can use normal NEC format if you haven't set an ID, and only need the described modification to NEC if you set an ID. But I think more likely it means the listed models always need the described modification to NEC protocol. If you think you need that modification, make a copy of NEC1.irp under a different name (so it won't confuse you on some future use of MakeHex). In that other .irp file, find the ~F on the last line, and replace it with the ID number: 1, 2 or 3. (Then follow the rest of the usual method for running MakeHex).

Hi John,
I followed the instructions you gave me in the CI lounge. The document I have is similar to the one you posted, with the same info.
4 BYTES, sorry.
So I downloaded make hex, followed your instructions, set to 135.69, and my function code. Created hexcode, cut and pasted into Xantech. (cool program)
Flashers flash, but no action on the projector.
I tried NEX1, NEC2, NECx1, NECx2.
I didn't change the ID code, as I read that after I left the jobsite. I'll try that. Any other suggestions? Would it be prudent to try other .irp's other than the NEC?

NEC1 is definitely the right .irp file to start with. Most likely you do need to replace the ~F with the unit number inside the .irp file.

I'm totally comfused. For address 1, Do you mean replace the line:

With
Form=*,D:8,S:8,F:8,01:8,_;*,_

Right.
The leading 0 is optional. Form=*,D:8,S:8,F:8,1:8,_;*,_ would be just as good.

Is the Xantech the only universal remote system you have available while testing this?
I assume you have some working non discrete signals available in some form for that same (Hitachi) device. If those are in any PC readable form such as Pronto Hex, post a few.
If I look at ordinary signals for the same device, that will resolve any ambiguity or misunderstanding about the construction of discrete signals.

If I understand correctly, the command you are trying to use is 15 hex, which is 21 decimal. It sounds like you don't need to replace the ~F with 1. The MakeHex documentation tells you a couple ways to run MakeHex so that the function labels in the hex file will be in hex rather than decimal. That may be hard to follow. Alternately, you can use Windows calculator in view/scientific mode to convert the hex function numbers documented by Hitachi into decimal.
