The discrete codes posted above perhaps? Have you tried them? I have, and they work not only with the GD8/9 series, but also now with the SD1 series too.
I KNOW that they work. I have cut and paste them into pronto edit, then learned them into MX Editor for an MX-850. The discrete codes posted above mostly worked on my sharp LC46XD1E model, the latest European model, Ext 1 to 6 worked, Dtv and the discrete off worked, however the discrete on does not! (have used discrete off + power toggle for ON at the moment, messy, but it works. Thanks for posting the codes, been a great help, Adam.

Has anyone been able to confirm any discrete codes for the 40U series of TV's? Even just power on/off as a discrete code would be sufficient for my current installation. I just got off the phone with Sharp tech support, and they said there are no discrete codes available and none are planned. (doh!) Do any of the power on/off commands for other series of TV's work? Anyone tested this on a Universal remote?

Agreed, I now have 255 discrete hex codes. But If anyone can tell me how to calculate the binary to decimal were all done. To convert binary to decimal, you need to work with powers of 2. For example, the binary number 10001 represents 2^4 * 1 + 2^3 * 0 + 2^2 * 0 + 2^1 * 0 + 2^0 * 1. The symbol "^" is short hand for the "to the power of" operator. In other words, 2^4 = 2 * 2 * 2 *2 (note there are 4 2's). And any number raised to the power of 1 is that number (2^1 = 2), and any number raised to the power of 0 is 1 (2^0 = 1). Binary numbers are simply numbers based on base 2, just as decimal numbers are based on base 10. E.G, the decimal number 103 is really 10^2 * 1 + 10^1 * 0 + 10^0 * 3. Only the base of the number is different (10 vs 2). Of course, in the binary system, there are only 2 digits (0 and 1), so even relatively small numbers look big, e.g., the number 35 is 100011 (2^5 * 1 + 2^1 * 1 + 2^0 * 1, or 32 + 2 + 1). Hope this helps, -- Dave

I received a document from Sharp titled "DISCRETE CODES FOR AQUOS MODELS", the Power On (only) and Power Off (only) codes equate to the same codes as above using makehex, but they don't work. I've got a LC-32D40U purchased in January 2007. Has anyone out there found any codes that will work on the newer" sets?

Here are the codes Im using for the Sharp LC-46D62U. They work with no flaws,(or as flawless as you can get with IR) I think I got them on here some where but dont remember. But they have been tested using the pronto 7500. Good luck.

Bad !!! I got the same set of codes from SHARP customer service prior to buying the LC42 XD1E. I then bought the TV in good faith. However when I recieved the TV - it showed that the discret code for power on does not work Sharp refuses to take back the TV or help fixing the problem VERY VERY BAD !

Thanks for posting the codes, been a great help, Adam. hi Adam, I've a 42XD1E and I'm searching the codes for ON and TV. Like you wrote, the other ones are working. Did you find a solution up to this time. Especially the switch to TV is important. Thanks in advance ...

Thanks in advance ... For terrestrial tv I use a small macro, basically I used the discrete for HDMI 2, then a 1.5 second delay, and then the code for the number 1 and it takes you directly to the analogue tuner, as for discrete on, no luck, it appears sharp cocked up this one. hope this helps, cheers, Adam.
