I would be interested in these codes, too. I wonder if Panasonic would give them out freely as Yamaha does.

Hi Guys,

Looks like we will have to wait as these codes are not available. I program Universal remotes for a living and ran into this problem with this Plasma yesterday. What made matters worse is that the new Comcast HD/DVR cable boxes do not allow HDMI switching to be performed by an AV receiver. You will get a message stating "this set-top box does not allow HDMI repeaters, please connect via component cables". I will post if/when I get any updates.

Regards,

Suntanjam

I just spoke with Universal Remote and there will be an update to the database in about 2 weeks. It may have the new Panasonic codes. Fingers are crossed!

Have you tried the codes for the TH-50PX50U? I have this Plasma and am using discrete codes for power on/off and a work around for the inputs. Here's the link to my file.

[Link: remotecentral.com]

Last time I checked the actual unzipped file says it's for a Pioneer but it is in fact for the Panasonic TH-50PX50U. I've asked Daniel to update the file so it reads "Panasonic" instead of "Pioneer". I don't know if he's done that yet or not but either way the file works great. Give it a shot and let me know how it works out for you.

I can´t open your file. What kind of program is it saved in? Can you please save the codes in word so I just can cut & paste?

I´m actually looking for the discrete codes for the Panasonic TH-65PV500E. But I can´t find it anywhere! So I want to try your codes.

I don't know of any program that can extract IR signals from an mxd file for use in any other brand of universal remote.

The brand specific programs that can use mxd files cannot display any signals in Pronto Hex. They can import (a subset of Pronto Hex) from CCF files, but have no (input nor output) support for the text form of Pronto Hex.

I expect the same signals are already available elsewhere at RemoteCentral in some CCF file other form that is more portable than mxd. But I haven't done the searches to find that.

I have an Excel spreadsheet from Panasonic with discrete codes for the TH50PX60U and 600U.

Howevever I don't think these are HEX codes. I don't know enough about IR formats to use these.

Perhaps someone with more expertise could translate these for us and post them in a Pronto/RTI useable HEX format.

For example Video Input 1 looks like this:
VIDEO01: 00, 01, 81

0100-0000-0000-0100-0000-0001-0000-0000-1000-0000-1000-0001

2 0 0 2 0 8 0 0 1 0 1 8

I am interested in the discrete codes as well. In the meantime for component switching, I am just using a macro for each function (i.e.: to switch to HDMI1, the macro 1st hits the TV/VIDEO button, followed by the number 4).

If you want to use the MakeHex program to generate Pronto Hex, use the Panasonic.irp file (and read the readme file with MakeHex for more instructions).

For example Video Input 1 looks like this:
VIDEO01: 00, 01, 81

In that form it is telling you that it is Subdevice 0, function 1. (The 81 is a check byte computed automatically by MakeHex, so you can ignore it).

0100-0000-0000-0100-0000-0001-0000-0000-1000-0000-1000-0001

2 0 0 2 0 8 0 0 1 0
1 8

That is a more complete, less understandable form of the same info. The initial 2 0 0 2 0 is the Kasiekyo code for the Panasonic brand, so it will be the same for all Panasonic signals.

The next number (8) is what MakeHex uses for device number, but for obscure reasons you need to multiply it by 16, so the device is 128. The 0 0 1 0 1 8 is redundant with the subdevice, function and check byte discussed above.

MakeHex uses "device.subdevice" on its device line, so edit the device line in Panasonic.irp to say:
device=128.0

This is what I use on virtually every Panasonic I run into. Although not as glamorous as a direct input discrete, it is very effective and I've never had one misfire. You can adjust the delay slightly between TV/Video and the digit that follows and the input menu may only momentarily flash. Not an issue. Beats Toshiba any day.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I recently setup a Panasonic TH50PX500U, with a Harmony remote, discrete input codes worked fine. I have used a Harmony remote to teach a Pronto thats having problem Sony codes. Might be worth getting a cheap Harmony remote to take advantage of being able to download their device codes.

dromero, did you also find a discrete input code for HDMI 2 for the Panasonic TV with the Harmony Remote?

I looked through the entire list of download codes, there were no HDMI input codes. I see input 1-6, component 1 and 2, and something called "Av/discrete" and "AVS/DVI" ?
