Hello,

I'm using an MX-850 with a dish 508 and the discrete power on and power off codes that I found here recently stopped working all of the time. It seems after I use the power-off, it turns the unit off properly, but after waiting 15 minutes or longer, if I try to power it up with the power-on code, it won't turn on. Sometimes I have to hit the power-off code a few times and/or use the power on/off toggle button on the original remote to reset it. The only change I see it a software update from p308 to p309 recently. Any ideas? Please help!

I used this method to get the discret codes for the 622 may work with your's aswell. Give it a try.

DISH NETWORK 622 here is how you get the discrete on/off codes:

- Press and hold the SAT button at the top of the remote until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
- While the SAT mode light blinks, press and release the large satellite Power button.
- Press Volume Up for discrete power on. Press Volume Down for discrete power off.
- Press the Select button to exit.

Thanks for the reply. I did find that info and tried it -- with no luck. What do you consider the (large satellite Power button)?? Is it the on/off red button on the remote?

Thanks again.

Yes the large power button is the large on/off power button. Sorry didn't work. Must be different than the 622 becasue mine works perfect.

I have the exact same problem with my DishDVR 510. The power on discrete code stopped working several weeks ago. The discrete power off code works fine. However, if I power off and immediately power on, it works fine. I have not changed or re-programmed my remote either. I checked the power on IR code from the remote and it hasn't been 'modified'.

I though it was the p309 software, but it started working fine for a few weeks and then stopped again. Two weeks ago, the p360 update came out and it didn't fix the problem.
