I have a Sony STR-DE697 receiver that has a button on it called INPUT MODE, which lets you toggle between digital and analog audio modes (Auto, Coax, Optical, and Analog). The remote doesn't have this button. Is there a discreet code I can use?
I have a Harmony 659. Thanks in advance.

Sony AMPs uses sometime same IR codes.
I have the TA-E9000ES and have extract the discrete inputs for Auto, Coax, Optical, and Analog.

These IRs are not clean but works fine for me:

Maybe someone could help med to clean them.

Those commands are DSP (Control_A1) commands and are more complicated than the standard Device/Function commands. In fact they're composed of multiple commands as detailed here:

They may already be adequately clean to satisfy the requirements outlined on the page above. The last one for instance is composed of six parts. The first three of which are the "same" then three more chunks and finally the checksum portion.

It just so happens I was recently directed to the A1 page by Rob, the page's author, after having found some odd device decodes (which were in fact the checksum portion of a DSP code).

How would one go about converting those discrete codes into hex for use with the RM-AX4000, provided that's possible? I used to use the DVD analog audio input for watching tapes or TV and the Video 2 optical input for watching DVDs, but I recently a coxial cable for the DVD player as my receiver has a digital coax port for the DVD input so that I could use the Video 2 optical input for the Squeezebox. The problem being that even if the DVD player isn't playing, it still gives a signal so that the receiver (input mode on auto) plays the coax sound (or lack thereof) and never the analog. Of course, Sony didn't apparently find it important enough to put an input mode button on the original remote. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try posting in the sony forum if you want to use the Sony Ax4000 remote, and ask tmmoore for his excel file if he has not uploaded it here yet, John fines helped on the code converstion in the spreadsheet

The AX4000 primarily uses an IR encoding system that uses an ID for the protocol type followed by the values to be encoded in that protocol.

That is in contrast with the Pronto, which primarily uses an IR encoding system that is a digital recording of the actual IR signal.

You can make a correct recording of an IR signal without any understanding of the structure of that signal. But representing an IR signal the way the AX4000 normally does requires that the AX4000's firmware be specifically programmed for that signal structure.

I tested most of the AX4000 protocol types and I did not find Sony Control-A1. That's a bit surprising, so maybe it is in there. But I don't have time nor any easy method to search further.

When I first programmed my own AX4000 from my own remotes, the Sharp signals were stored in a strange form that did not fit the rules of all the other learned and generated signals. Most of those Sharp signals didn't work, but a few did.

I think there is some sort of fall back system for storing signals that aren't one of the recognised protocols and the bad learns of the Sharp signals were stored that way (Sharp is one of the recognised protocols, but bad learns may fail to be recognised).

I meant to experiment further to find that encoding system that then could be used for a wide range of unrecognised protocols. But I never got around to it. I don't even recall now where I kept the original data.

Maybe some helpful person with a Pronto and an AX4000 will learn the Control A1 signals you want from the Pronto to the AX4000. Then you can get the data out of the PC file his AX4000 generates. Maybe that would be needed for each Control A1 you want, or maybe a few would reveal the whole pattern.

I tried the codes above on my DA50ES (as well as a few other things from the hifi-remote site) but unfortunately no joy. I was hopeful because I do have some similar looking codes in my CCF for some DSP things. Anyone have any luck switching input mode on a DA50ES?

Unfortunately I ran out of inputs - unless I switch one between optical/coax giving me just enough. I know, probably time to buy a new receiver anyways to get DD+, DTS-MA, etc., but it's not in the budget right now...
