MY NAME IS STEVE KOVACS. I NEED HELP ON FINDING, AND TURNING DISCRETE CODES INTO USEABLE IR SIGNALS. I AM NEW TO THE PROCESS OF FINDING CODES AND LOADING THEM INTO A REMOTE SUCH AS THE PRONTO. AND IF IT IS A PRONTO I SHOULD PURCHASE, WHICH MODEL? I JUST BOUGHT A NEW HOME AND I'M BUILDING AN 8 ZONE AUDIO/VIDEO SYTEM, AND I WANT ONE BUTTON CONTROL ON EACH REMOTE IN EVERY ROOM. WITHOUT DISCRETE ON/OFF FOR MY 6 TVs, AND 8 RECEIVERS, AND WITHOUT DISCRETE SOURCE SELECT FOR TV INPUTS, ONE BUTTON CONTROL IS IMPOSSIBLE. I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO FIND THE CODES AND TURN THEM INTO USEABLE IR SIGNALS. WHAT REMOTE DO I PURCHASE AND HOW EASY IS IT TO...
A. FIND THE CODES I NEED
B. TURN THEM INTO A USEABLE IR SIGNAL.
I NEED HELP! MY E MAIL IS [email protected], BUT BETTER YET I WOULD LOVE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE ABOUT THIS. I'M AT (207) 229-9178.
I'LL BE GALD TO PAY FOR ANY PERSON'S TIME FOR THE HELP. AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!

The first thing you need to do is select equipment with discrete on, off and input commands. If the equipment you use doesn't have these commands then you must resort to workarounds usually using a command that will put the equipment into a known state and the appropriate followup commands incorporated into a macro to get the equipment you are using to the settings you need. If the equipment you select doesn't meet these requirements then you will need additional equipment to reliably control the system. There are several manufactures of learning macro capable remotes but the Philips Pronto and the HTM remotes are the best supported for finding discretes. Listing your equipment is probably the best way to get the advice you need. Both your Sony and Mits tvs have discrete commands but you won't find them on the oem remotes. Good luck and have fun. It is a frustrating but rewarding endeavor.
