-Hi!

Need all IR-codes for my Technics RS-BX501 tape deck.

Found some of the codes in:
[Link: remotecentral.com]
...but I can't convert them to my Marantz RC3200

Pronto2 neoConverter...
[Link: remotecentral.com]
...says that the codes are too long.

-Help needed, please... /Nic

That CCF has badly learned commands.

Try this CCF file:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

The Technics Receiver SA-GX550 includes the standard commands for a tape deck: Stop, Playfwd, Playrew, Pause, FF, REW, Rec, deck1/2

All of those are good learns for the same signals for which that other CCF has bad learns (except deck1/2, which that other CCF lacks).

If you need even cleaner signals, use the MakeHex program, Panasonic protocol, device 160.8, functions 0, 10, 11, 6, 3, 2, 8 and 149.

-Thanx johnsfine!

Can I copy the output (- first row) from MakeHex to the Edit IR window in RC3200 Setup program? ...or do I have to convert it somehow first?

Did you try just MakeHex, or did you also look at that CCF file I suggested?

...but what's function 149 for? Nothing happens.

All I know about function 149 is that it is labeled "deck1/2" in the decode output from that CCF. I didn't even look at the graphics in the CCF to see if that provides more info.

I could obviously make a guess about what "deck1/2" means. But since I don't own any similar device and you do, I expect your guess would be better than mine.

Anyway it sounds like a function that model has and your model doesn't.

The third file I had downloaded using Panasonic:160.8 is
[Link: remotecentral.com]

It has some of the commands mentioned earlier in this thread and also has function 1 for eject and function 61 for power. You should check what those do for your device.

For discrete on, you should see what commands such as play and eject do when the unit is off. If one of those turns the unit on, then you could create macros for discrete on and off.

Another approach is to use IrPanels on the output of MakeHex and then test all 256 possible commands with the unit off to see which turn it on. Testing all 256 commands again with the unit on may also give interesting results. You can't be certain that's a safe thing to do (some devices can be damaged by sending undocumented commands to them) but this isn't the sort of device that has a high risk of such problems.

The majority of Tape Decks don't even have a remote power toggle let alone discrete ON & OFF. Just plug the deck into the switched outlet of your receiver. I have an RCA branded Pioneer made tape deck sold through radio shack, which has power toggle, and discrete ON & OFF. But it doesn't have IR eye, it needs a RCA or Pioneer receiver.

Function 149 mabye is for doubble decks - mine is single so its OK.

Found Function 1 myself - it's eject (but I have to change the tape myself...)

Thanx for the 61 - it works - toggling power on/off...
...but the power does not turn on if I press Play.

I will test som more functions later...

-Thanx again, johnsfine!

-Hi edmund!

I have a Marantz receiver - but on the european models the power outlet on the back isn't switched. (They have taken out the relay and bypassed it...) Some kind of stupid safty thing...

-Thanx for the input anyway.
