Well the DVI works. Now all we need is the HDMI
code.

I have an HDMI code that works 75% of the times. After 4+ visits to the home I installed a DVDO with a DVI out to the tv. Now I'm only swithing the DVDO for video....sometimes you have to eat a job to move forward. Customer has referred us 3 clients since....DVDO was a great investment.

HDMI problem I did have: Feeding it with a HD Tivo/Direct TV and when TV powered up I always got a green screen. Changed video inputs or turning tv on/off didn't correct this. I then Reset the DSS and everything was OK, till the TV was powered off.

One solution that works:

Power OFF
component input>3sec delay>TV power off.

Power ON:
TV power on>8sec delay>HDMI input

With this delay problem the DVDO was the solution.

Good Luck!

Thanks! THESE WORK WONDERFULLY (I have an HLN507w1x/xaa
- Feb 2004)

This brings my total up to (all aquired from this
site of course!)
Power On - 99h
Power Off - 98h
Video 1 - 84h
Video 2 - NOT FOUND YET
Video 3 - ECh
SVideo 1 - 85h
SVideo 2 - EDh
SVideo - FBh
Comp1 - 86h
Comp2 - 88h
Comp3 - E8h
VGA (PC) - 69h
DVI 1 - 8Ch

I have a problem with my Samsung HLP-5063W that I don't think has been addressed anywhere on this thread. Despite having FW version 1035, none of the codes posted here work. On another thread on this topic,
[Link: remotecentral.com]
I came across a few codes that do actually work
001 - Power On
253 - Power Off
251 - Antenna.

Can anyone help me understand why these codes (which don't appear to be documented anywhere) work while the codes published on the Samsung website and also on this thread don't work? I'd also like to get a set of codes for the other inputs that actually work on my TV. I have a Radio Shack unit for programming the discretes and a Sony AV3000 universal controlller.

TIA for any guidance.

Your Radio Shack remote is the same as OneForAll remotes. Those three digit numbers you found/need are EFC numbers. An EFC number is a disguised form of the real command number.

The two digit command numbers published by Samsung are the hex form of the real command number. Posts 104 and 105 of this thread tell two different ways to do the two steps needed to convert a hex command number to an EFC (first convert from hex to decimal then from command to EFC).

The only problem I have had with the discrete codes is when I use the discrete off then wait and hour or so or overnight when you go to turn on using the discete on or the toggle power command the TV will not turn on. I have to physically press the power button on the TV to turn the TV on. Once on I can toggle power using the discrete on and discrete off commands just fine. Let the TV sit for awhile and I am back to square one. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, or know of a fix?

I would suspect that the "power toggle" you are using is not the one from the original remote. Unfortunatly, once the fan shuts down, and the display goes into stand-by mode, many of theses DLP's will not respond to the discrete "power on" IR code. It will only turn on with the original "power toggle" IR from your original remote.

Have you tried the original remote to see if you get a response from it once in stand-by?

Yes sir I had the original remote in my hand and tried to turn the TV back on with no luck. I had to go to the tv and press the power button for the tv to turn on. Once it was on the discrete on and off commands workes great. But let it sit for a few hours and I was back to square one.

I've seen several people in this thread having problems with Samsung DLP discrete POWER ON and POWER OFF commands. At this time I can only verify this as a known problem. I plan to research with Samsung.

FWIW, my research to date shows:

1. the marantz-supplied remote for the SR-7500 is kind enough to provide three power buttons: on, off, and toggle. Unfortunately, all three function as power toggle when programmed for a Samsung television (shame, Marantz)
2. the Harmony IR database suffers the same problem for Samsung DLPs; sadly, it also suffers numerous other problems - avoid using it (awful, given you're a remote provider - at least you get a working receiver when you buy the SR-7500)
3. there is some very useful information on this topic at AVSFORUM's website; sorry that I can not provide a direct link at this time
4. Samsung distributes an Excel spreadsheet referred to earlier in this thread. I got it from AVSFORUM's website. It's excellent, and includes the conversion calculator
5. that spreadsheet's discrete POWER ON and POWER OFF commands worked perfectly on my buddy's older Sammy DLP (sorry, no model # right now), but POWER ON doesn't EVER work on an HL-P4674W with firmware T_AT2NVS_1110. The latter set responds to the POWER TOGGLE and POWER OFF commands reliably

I know this doesn't get us very far, but for me at least it's comforting to know someone else has the same problem and it's not something you're doing wrong. I can't wait to see what Samsung has to say about this - I got the codes from their spreadsheet and they work on some of their TVs but not others.

I'll lift a Tom Collins myself when this is resolved - I just hope he's not too heavy.

Oh, another thing: I see bmontini was using x98 and x99 as power off/on. That is what I used. I have not used 001 and 253 (must be decimal, or it would be x01 and xFD).

Samsung is aware of the problem dating back to Cedia last year where I explained the problem to Steve Panosian and several of the Samsung tech folks. I followed up with several e-mails which have yet to be answered.
The problem with the power ON command is that once all of the internal parts turn off i.e. fan, light engine, etc the TV will only respond to the OEM remote or a press on the front button.

Has anyone ever seen Firmware version: T_AT2NUS_1111 this is what I have in my HLP5674 (full model HLP5674WX/XAA). The input discretes all work fine, as does power off. But like many others power on doesnt work (ever, irrespective of fan), and neither do the aspect ration discretes.

If anyone has seen this firmware and knows whether it is new or old, and whether I have any prayer of getting these discretes working right I'd really appreciate it.

On another note, given that I'm planning to use RF, is it really a disaster to use toggle commands with variables (I have an MX3000)?

Thanks,

Ian

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but if you are trying for discrete HDMI with the HLP6163, you have to update the firmware. The set originally shipped with the ATL-1024 board and must be updated to the 1029. This requires changing out the digital controller board (there is no way to flash the bios or update through the service port). I called Samsung and they sent out a tech to do it at no charge. Now the discrete HDMI code works as 8B.

Does anyone have any new HDMI descrete codes I could try for my HL-P5063W? I've tried the few I could find here with no luck thus far.

Thanks!

This HDMI code works for my HL-R5067W. It's Neo code, Guess it can be covererted though...

Do you happen to have a working A/V S-Vid input 2 code?
