Is there a code for Volume up and down. When I use the learn code feature, I have to hit the button repeatedly, I can't just hold it down.

Here is the alternate S-Video command I found
last week as well as two other alternate commands.
As for the other issues, I made Samsung aware
of the problem at Cedia this week and will be
following up with e-mail information this week.

Thanks! THESE WORK WONDERFULLY (I have an HLN507w1x/xaa - Feb 2004)

This brings my total up to (all aquired from this site of course!)
Power On - 99h
Power Off - 98h
Video 1 - 84h
Video 2 - NOT FOUND YET
Video 3 - ECh
SVideo 1 - 85h
SVideo 2 - EDh
SVideo - FBh
Comp1 - 86h
Comp2 - 88h
Comp3 - E8h
VGA (PC) - 69h
DVI 1 - 8Ch

This particular model does not have DVI2, HDMI1, HDMI2, IEEE 1,2,3. The only items I need to complete this are:
Video 2
Antenna A (RF)
Antenna B
Zoom 1
Zoom 2
Panorama
4:3
16:9
AutoFormat
AutoWide RF1
Autowide DTV

The Zooms and RFs are the next goals that I would like to get "fixed"

Everyone's help here has been GREAT! AND extremely helpful.

Note: I have not had a problem yet, switching to inputs that have nothing hooked up to them (ie, my Comp3, Vid3, and Svid3 all have nothing pluged into them)

Thanks again for everyone's help!!

Brian

I'm a relative newby when it comes to getting and uploading discretes. I have looked into available HL-P_ _ _ _ codes and spoken to Tech Support level 2. They sent me the excel spreadsheet and the pdf file. One code which would be really helpful but doesn't seem to be available is the code to turn off/on the internal speakers.

I've been following this thread for some time
now. Has there been anymore progress on the HDMI
and power-on discrete codes?

Here is a workaround to the discrete power-on. As the power-on may not work if the unit has been off for an extended time period, include a full power on/off command immediately followed by a discrete power-on command.

If the unit is off, the second command does nothing. If the unit was already on, it will be turned off and instantly turned back on. This is visibly transparent except for a flash of the red light, and I suspect that it is not as hard on the electronics as a power off with a pause followed by a power on.

The off and on sequence for me is very rare and I will take my chances on the additional wear that it may cause versus the simplified remote use by family members.

Thanks to all who have posted already. The information has been invaluable.

I've got an HL-P5063W set and have been frustrated trying to get all of the discrete codes to work. I got the same info from Samsung that many in this forum already have -- and had essentially the same experience (i.e. that a bunch of it is just wrong!).

I finally decided to do the brute force method: I used bmontini's Excel spreadsheet to create Pronto hex for all 256 codes and test them out to see what the 'actual' codes were. I was able to find discrete codes for all the inputs, but couldn't get any of the aspect ratio codes to work.

The (hex) input codes that work for me are (* = different from Samsung's tables):

Power On: 99
Power Off: 98
Antenna: 1B
AV1: 84
AV2: EB*
AV3: EC*
SVideo 1: 85
SVideo 2: ED*
SVideo 3: FB
Component 1: 86
Component 2: 88
PC: 69
DVI: 8A
HDMI: 8B

I've had the same issue with the 'Power On' that many have (i.e. it only works for a few minutes after power down).

Has anyone had any success getting the aspect ratio codes (i.e. 'Zoom1', '4:3', etc.) to work? If so, what codes have you used?

Probably a dumb question, but how do I make use of these codes with a Pronto TSU3000? These look more like the codes I've seen for the "one-for-all" series using the Samsung "code 60". By the way, if they are, that's ok, as I bought a cheep one-for-all (URC 6131) that I can use to program by pronto, if need be, by teaching it commands from the URC 6131.

Off topic for the Pronto forum, but the URC unit is the best $13 remote I've ever bought. I'm using it as my main remote in an exercise room to control a tivo, onkyo, sony tv, etc.

Thanks,

-- Dave

You use one of several tools for generating Pronto Hex, such as "bmontini's Excel spreadsheet" mentioned earlier in this thread (and linked to in some recent thread here) or my MakeHex program.

For MakeHex, you'd need to know that the protocol is NECx2 and the device is 7.7

You ought to use MakeHex from command prompt with the -h switch, rather than via the drag/drop method, ecause that will give you function numbers in hex rather than decimal, so you won't need to convert in order to use the list in this thread.

These look
more like the codes I've seen for the "one-for-all"

These numbers need a translation before they can be used with the OFA remote. If you want them for the OFA remote, I'll explain that translation. But if you want them for a Pronto, MakeHex is easier and better.
