Can anyone help me...
I am working on a workaround for discrete power on/off for my Samsung DVD-V3650 DVD/VCR Combo.

I have discovered that if power is off, I can turn it on by pushing the Open/Close button...This powers on and then opens DVD tray. Of course once it is on, the open/close button only opens and closes the tray. I don't know a lot about IR codes, but it seems that this might mean that embedded in the opne/close IR code is a discrete power on code.

Anyway, if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to use it to program a Philips Pronto TSU 2000.

Here is the Power on/off toggle code:
0000 006c 0000 0022 00aa 00ab 0015 0041 0016 0015 0015 0040 0015 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0016 0015 0016 0014 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0015 0016 0016 0015 0015 0016 0016 0015 0015 0016 0016 0015 0015 0016 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0015 0015 0040 0015 0016 0016 0040 0015 0040 0015 0041 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0740

Here is the Open/Close code:

just sharing my findings.....

we started selling these newer Samsung DVD/VCR combos, so this problem was a little irritating for me.

Open/Close command will turn on the unit if the unit is in the DVD mode only.

here's a hack job, but it works every time and it's relatively fast... faster than a client turning it on by hand atleast. ;)
issue this sequence of commands

DVD
POWER
DVD // these three anchor the unit to the DVD mode
OPEN/CLOSE // anchors the unit on
POWER // turns unit off before the tray can open
POWER // puts unit back into the ON state.

don't try to time the DVD tray with a follow up open/close command, the timing varies and it's far more time consuming (long delays in the programming) --- just power cycle it like above.

Beleive it or not, I've got a job to do on an MX900 that uses a Samsung combo DVD/VCR for the dids so they can listen to their favorite shows on tape...

June 21 2011... I thought vcr were dead and would never encounter one again... wrong !

Thanks for the tip !
