Ive been using the strong racks and have been pleased.

Just noticed the Omni Mount RE42 package and pretty much fell out of my chair!

Anyone have experience with Omni to compare to strong?

Omnimount RE racks are great. What's not to like. It comes with shelfs, fully enclosed, a fan that you can use but needs an inline AC thermostat (see cool components). The only bad thing is that you have do lug that thing around as it comes preassembled. Man is it bulky and heavy.

Bottom line is its a rack and it works. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Just check the dimensions before ordering.

Strong racks will cost a lot more to make tem fully enclosed with the fan system. You can't beat the price of the omnimount.

i seam to recall that the strong rack packages were far cheaper, especially when you consider shipping. (i dont have a local disty that stocks omnimount)

Did the prices drop? someone care to PM me dealer?

The price isn't even comparable. Omni wins hands down. If ordered thru our favorite supplier it's free shipping!

I'm so switching to Omni. I probably buy a dozen 42 u racks a year.

No, HDI is right.  If you compare the Omni to the Snap.  With the same features, the Snap is close to double the cost.

Yup. I agree with the going with the Omni. Its all I use for floorstanding racks. Even my Snap rep said "I don't know how they do it for that price"

That's good to hear. I'm sold. I almost feel like ordering 5-6. Like the deals going to disappear before my eyes.

It's not a deal, it's the price.  They've been priced like that since they came out.

Sanus has a very nice package, in several sizes, similar to the Omni as well.

The Omnis are not without their flaws.
They are the Harbor Freight version of racks.

Downsides:
120v AC fan with no control
Inconsistant welds (rails crooked)
Rack screws that come with them are made of cheese
Shelves come in two flavors 2sp and OMG huge (IIRC they are 5-6 sp)
Lots O 2 space blanks
The screw hole layout on the shelves is not consistant with MA equipment.
(I normally put a covered shelf or two in my racks to hold baluns, splitters and crap)
IIRC they are a bit wider then M/A freestanding racks. A fact that bit us in the butt on a project when an Omni rack was substituted last minute. Door for closet had already been made and the damn thing wouldn't fit through it.
Top or bottom cable landing only. I like the M/A above the door cable pass through better for aesthetic reasons
A full size component (like a surge pro) will rest against the built in fan, blocking arflow and causing an unpleasant buzzing sound. I just blank the top space now.

Upsides:
They look nice
They are fairly inexpensive.
The removable sides are nice for hiding crap and still having easy future access.
None of them I have used have caught fire or fell over. (Used about 10 of them so far).

They really should consider selling a gutted model and offer a 12v fan option.
I rip all the shelves and hardware out and replace with M/A.

Anybody want some Omni shelves? I have quite a pile of em.

Nice, I use to get all the parts and build but it's a pain in the ass plus takes to much time, I've used the Sanus - CFR2144-B1 and the CFR2127, I have a pair of the AFAb for myself at home. I've always used the Omni Mount speaker mounts but have never tried there racks yet.

I would strongly recommend the Sanus Component Series racks as well. Holy s#$t these things are amazing compared to Snaps racks. I won't use another Snap Rack again after trying Sanus. They look very similar to Omni Mount racks.

Omni, Sanus = Walmart racks.

They have their use, can't beat the price.

I avoid Chinese crap when I can. Child labor, FTW.
