They are castrating the SHEF integration protocol taking methods like getPlaylist and making the private so that only their app can pull that information out of your DVR.

SHEF will be essentially worthless only duplicating what you can already do with RS232.

Yes, my iPad app (currently in progress) is wasted if they limit it too much

Most of the worthwhile functions will go away in the next receiver update. There will be no functionality beyond what is already available via rs232

Are they giving any excuses for this? They made a big deal out of their ip ability last cedia.
