I'm looking for ideas/thoughts on a universal keypad. I've been looking at the B&K CK1.2 because I know URC programming, but are there better or cheaper ones?
This is for a bathroom and would like to keep it simple (cost wise as well). It would be hooking into a Xantech IR repeater kit and controlling the 2nd zone on a Yamaha RX-V2500.
fairly basic needs...2 source buttons SAT, or Radio...channel up down, and volume.
Any personal experience, preferences, quirks, benefits or disadvantages of these would be much appreciated.

Agree with the K-2's. Haven't seen the new RTI's missed them at CEDIA.

I agree with some of the other guys that the Sonance K2 is good if you want to spend more money. If you want something basic take a look at the Russound saphIR K2 Keypad. It is a double gang basic IR keypad.

I'm using the K2 at home on my Zone 2 Yamaha 2600, and it's great.
What about the 1.1? I haven't seen it yet, but it's supposed to be like the 1.2 only smaller, right?

Not a big fan of the CK 1.2's. The programming is on line with URC. You can't do a macro unless a function is associated with a button last I messed with them. Just plane stupid as far as I am concerned. Maybe they got a clue and chnged this, I have not heard or researched though.
RTI RK3 is pretty sweet.

You can't do a macro unless a function is associated with a button last I messed with them. I believe that this is correct, but with the four pages of LCD per device, I always hide the commands on the fourth page of the device, and then hide it. Not defending the design, just pointing out that it shouldn't be a deal-breaker...

Still bitter, well not really. But I have to foreworn because it just made me say the WTF are these designers thinking... 10 buttons can go quick...

Am I the only one who thinks the K2 (sonance) is a nicer LOOKING product than the RTI RK2/RK3? The K2 fits in a double gang box also.
Its a shame, because their are essentially the same thing...but I want to be able to bring keypads INTO my RTI programming environment, and add it to a RTI system... so the K2 is a bit of a pain.

It has a data base of codes built in, but you can also learn codes. It is based on the uno s2 chassis. Works with lots of other brands in terms of what you want to control.... any idea on the MSRP? Check your favorite supplier (well, at least they're my favorite supplier....)

I think the RK3's look pretty sweet, never seen a 2 in action besides Cedia. Clients and peers seem to be impressed as well. And you what the programming entails. But to each his own...
