System: Dual S12 System, controlled by Z200's, Z250's, Via Panels, and TSU7000's through IR tubes. Sources are Escient Fireball, Elan DTNR, Sony DVD, Two Directv H10's.

Problem: Chassis 2 shuts down when repeating commands are sent to it. If I shoot Volume up or down into an IR tube from a 7000 the system will shut down all zones on chassis 2 about 1/3 of the time. When pressing the volume up or down on a KP the system shuts down about 1/8 of the time. If I use a command like cursor down or up for the H10 the sources will change randomly. I have been able to recreate this problem with a Z200 plugged into the s12 directly with nothing else plugged in and no IR tube loaded.

All Elan programming through ViaTools (as if there was another way), and pronto program links to Elan issued ccf.

Elan is sending me another s12 but I am nervous that the problem might be something I am not thinking of.

Anyone else run into this or anything similar?

kinda sounds like 485 bus problems, are you using percision panels with your via and kp's? that is very important with the s12, DONT plug rj45 from via direct into s12!!!! not only 485 probs, but voltage issues as well.

Unplug everything and start from zero. If you have a single keypad plugged in and it still behaves badly, try another kp. Otherwise it might just be a defective unit. But I have seen stranger things with Elan installations that have been caused by the simplest of wiring mishaps. ;) Always triple check the wiring diagram......all 4 versions. lol.....

Also try swapping the S12s. If the problem stays with the same controller, you have a bad S12.
