Last C band I worked on was a Chapparal, and it was connected (along with an old VCR) to a ANALOG dual channel Channel Plus modulators...
If anyone actually remembers odulators, much less ANALOG modulators... After about an hour twisting the pots to try to get all of the TVs to tune the stupid thing, it was fun tapping the top of the chassis and watching TVs go in and out.
It was a fun game of "got it... got it... lost it..."
Seriously, a lot of you guys don't know how good you have it.

But what was worse?? The DTC-100 from DirecTV or the Dish 5000 w/ the HD adapter?? DTC-100. Maybe its just me, but I always thought the picture sucked on those things.

I made the switch to RTI a few months back and after I program this MX-900 tomorrow morning I will never sell a HTM remote again. I am very pleased with the programming capability and I will confess to being an marginal programmer at best.

RE 2nd Rick
The nice thing about them old Channel Plus modulators was you always had a reason to go visit the client again....

Or the dish 6000 with the 8vsb module.. you had to pay extra for it. It ran hot. Had a noisey fan. And you had to physically remove it from time to time and clean the fan.

I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

The beautiful thing about the RTI software is that once you have designed your GUI, you can use the code search and replace to easily modify for other jobs. It is a much easier proceedure than changing each individual code on a hidden code page (as I do with Pronto) or having to find every applicable button command in you configuration.
The wireless can be fantastic but watch out for local interference sources. I have had a few jobs where range has been severely limited.
The only bummer is that pages are not organized by device so you can not set certain features by device. You must select each button or groups of buttons to set or change settings for stand alone IR or processor defaults on more complicated configurations.

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"... |
