I've heard mixed opinions on this subject, I just want to know what everyone else thinks. Which is the best "Bang for the buck"? Speakercraft or B & W?

What is your application?

Whole House Audio? In ceiling speakers?

Are you speaking in terms of audio quality?

Reliability?

I do Speakercraft and don't have any experience with B&W

I would be more concerned with the 'Monster' in your name.

Scum bag Noel Lee and his lawyers have bankrupt (through legal fees) many business's because of the name 'monster'.

'Little Monster Snow Board School' comes to mind!

And they had nothing to do with this biz!

Good luck.

I hope others can give you better advice.

Whenever I hear 'monster' I think of Noel and all of the unscrupulous things he has done to innocent people that were trying to provide a service to others that were not related to the audio biz at all!

Are you sure you me B & W, they make high end speakers. And Speakercraft makes background music systems.

Maybe you mean B & K?? which I am a big fan of. Hard for me to really compare those two either to be honest with you.

Did you get Monster's permission to use their name , they are very protective of this and will sue.

For in-wall product I'm not so sure but I doubt there is a "Nautilus" anywhere in the Speakercraft line.

Got to give Jeremy credit for building a good successful business around container speakers from Taiwan but at first glance I'd say you have two completely different animals here. If B&W weren't locked up in our territory we would certainly have interest. Almost anyone can get Speakercraft and it's in distribution... if you have a chance to pick up B&W it will instantly raise the bar of perception of you company... I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Actually, the two brands are far enough apart that I could see you supporting both with the proper volume.

Are you actually in the business??? If that is the case, this would be like asking one mechanic - which is better Mercedes or Toyota?

Better change that name to Frankenstein Home Theater , or Scary Dude Home Theater, otherwise, Mr. Lee will have some ankle biting attorney harrassing you.

Not to nitpick but "Speakercraft OF B&W", The f key is near the r key in your defense.

Or maybe you meant B&W is a division of Speakercraft?

I buy both, and use a few AIM series but mostly B&W. But then I think we pay a lot more for Speakercraft and a bit less for B&W here which probably skews things.

eg. RRP B&W CCM65 £260, RRP Speakercraft CRS one £250

I use the AIM8 for discreet cinema. (Inwalls are impossible here- masonry everywhere) RRP AIM8 three £400 each. I think at the moment £1 = $1.9 approx

Both perform well enough. I don't see massive differences in build quality of in-ceilings apart from triad though? The others are all injection moulded far eastern crap. Some have flashy drive units in...

What experience do you all have of the B&W 817? Not had a requirement for them but curious

Shout if you are not comfortable with the display of pricing and I will remove it- seems to be the way around here but this is in another currency!

Just keep it retail and nobody will mind to much, leave margin alone here as well. There are other places to discuss this if you want.

Are you guys just kidding around about Monster branding and the law suits? How can he sue someone for naming their business "MONSTER CAR AUDIO" lets say in Nashville TN?

Maybe you are just pulling my leg. I understand the money bags that his company drags around, but what judge in their right mind would not through this out as frivolous.

Monster is going crazy with suing people. Do NOT be surprised if you get a letter from their lawyer. Even if it doesn't go before a judge, they have the deep pockets and others have renamed their businesses just to avoid the legal costs.
